Ok, question for all the stereo upgrade guru's. Im currently at a crossroad with what to do. I have 1 Jl-10w7 that Im going to put in place of the stock 10" JL, should I go ported or sealed? Also what kind of material should I use to make a box, BTW Im going to have a pro box shop build it however Im curious on the types of materials I should stay with. I would like to have plexiglass on the top since then I could lift the seat and see inside (not sure if that would be good to use though?)

Im also thinking I should maybe complement it with another 10w7 on the other side of the boat. Thoughts? FYI: I will be using a JL 1000/1 amp so power to the subs will not be an issue.

I don't think putting a sub that expensive in an area that they can be kicked or dripped on is a good idea. I'm not trying to get into your business, but I could just see someone kicking a hole in it.

it will be better if its in a ported box under a seat if possible, and i would agree with ponyh8r, it might get wet and they would probably have to build the ported box all the way towards the front of you boat which will probably be more expensive.

Mike-its behind the drivers seat and can not be kicked since the stock sub is right behind it. I am concerned with water though can a little dripping of water on the outside damaged the sub? Or is their a speaker guard/cover I can put on it to protect it without looseing alot of spl?

eventually it can, and with that kind of expensive subwoofer you dont want that.

You also have to worry about rain. If i was you i would have it somewhere where it doesnt get wet, and you should put a marine JL Audio subwoofer behind the captain seat.
