My brother has a mid 80s supra comp with a 351. It always fires right off at the beginning of the day when we first put it in. But, whenever we shut if off after some riding and try to start it 15 or 20 minutes later, it doesn't like to start back up. It turns over a few times then acts like the battery is dead. Is this just a bad battery? Starter going bad? Vapor lock? The battery was bought new just over a year ago. Any ideas why we can't get her started.

Sounds like your timing is just a hair too far advanced. If it's up around 11-13 deg BTC it will run great but may "back up" on the starter when it's warm. Set the timing to 8-10 deg BTC (8 is stock) and see how it runs.

Thanks, we'll look into that.
