Long time lurker that now has the time and money to buy a boat and enjoy surfing.

I am looking for everyone's opinion on what boat would be best in this price range. Surfing is #1 on the list, with wake boarding #2.

I know V drive is the way to go, but curious to see which of the older hulls will perform when weighted down.

Sanger V215 great choice for both. Good wake both sides same setup on each side. Does require 500 # lead for a great wake. Should be able to find one at that price.

i found an 04 centurion avalanche storm series II with 62 hours for 28k.

i havnt taken posession of it yet, but from the polls i have put out here, the avalanche should have one of the best surf waves out there.

good luck. this winter should be a GREAT time to buy.

I know, it appears to be a V drive. I have e-mailed him back. He did say it was a 23ft so I would assume I would need a ton of weight to surf behind it.

Anyone else know much about this boat/hull?

This was the other boat I was looking at:

I thought I read that this hull does not throw that great of a surf wake. Is that true?

I'm not sure as to what years Supra has made hull changes, but, I believe the 01' Launch to have the same hull as my 05' Launch. If that is the case, I can tell you it throws a really good surf wake. You'd need to add some additional ballast weight, but the wake can get big.

There's an '00 centurion in the classifieds which throws a massive roller if you're still in the market.
