Want to try out a flex board and found a good deal on both of these but not much info out there about how they ride. I mainly ride behind the boat and there's no opportunity for me to demo. Any feedback is appreciated.

The shredtown would be my choice, no pun intended lol.
It has a more durable base and rails so if you ever wanted to take it on obstacles you wouldn't tear it up.
My buddy had a choice and absolutely destroyed it after just two trips to the cable.
Both are continuous rockers and both have a good flex pattern. I know you mainly ride boat and both will do that for you no problem. The shredtown will hold its value better over time so if you ever wanted to sell it later on to get a new board you would probably get more for it

I agree. If you get the 2013 Shredtown, ensure you get some black plastic replacement fins. Those clear fins will break if you even look at them.

Any noticeable difference in performance between these behind the boat? Not as concerned with resale, if I like it enough I'll ride it till it falls apart.

Not while you are riding. The shredtown will be a hair more stiff and just slightly heavier due to the grind base. They should both ride about same for the typical rider.

You're looking at two cable specific boards for mostly boat riding?? IMHO I would look at other options that favor what you regularly ride.

The choice isn't a cable board

I wish they made the choice in a 145 like the response. Would be stoked to try it out, they claim that by not having the ES base it's 1.5 lbs lighter than the Response.
I love the response, but the 2013 seemed it was stiffer and a bit heavier than the 2012, and the 2014 I got this year definitely feels stiffer/heavier with the ES base.

I guess there could be some break-in factor, but my 2012 was puuuurfect when I blew the fast track out and had to retire it. That was at the end of it's second season of hard boat and cable riding though. I rode a ton on my 2014 this year and it still feels a bit stiffer than the 2012 I had. Also definitely heavier. So I would love to try the choice but can't ride a 142 board.

Plus for 2015 they finally got some acceptable graphics on the Choice. 14 was ok, but 13 and 12 were awful. SS had such dope graphics those years but it's like they were out of ideas when they got to the choice and said "just make it plain black and white"

i would no recommend the 2013 shredtown behind the boat. me and my friend tried it and it had way less pop than traditional foam or stiffer wood boards. the only thing i did like about it was the way it had a quick/fast edge on the water.

I felt the nomad today. It weighs the same as the choice. I was amazed. I have a 142 Choice I can send you if you don't mind sending it back when your done. For my size I really need a Nomad.

It was a 155 Nomad if you are curious.

It sounds to me like you don't know how to ride the board. The pop is later than foam boards.

Same boat Tim, 6'4" 225 lb. 145 Response is about too small for me. Awesome of you to offer up your Choice but like you I probably need to give the Nomad a ride.

Definitely check out the nomad. I am 5'9 230lbs. I may go with the 155cm. I am still impressed with how light it is.
