My background. Age:43 Excersise: ya some, I play Hockey and softball, but I tend to drink after playing games and have a nice beer gut. Wakeboarding lv: beginner (3rd yr)
Reason for post:
Last year while trying to show up my brother by being the first to do a 360 a took a minor spill and landed on my butt. My boys were a little sore but I was fine for the rest of the day. Next day every nerve in my left leg was twitching and I couldn't sit down with out severe pain in my lwr back and left leg. Got so bad could only lay on my belly and take little shallow breaths. Rupurted my lower disk in my back. Knee injuries aint
least you can move. Well I eventually had surgery in Dec and am now back on the water with some pain.
THE REASON I'M POSTING: The wipeout was not the real cause of the ruptured disk. According to the Dr. the MRI showed that I have lost the natural curve down at the base of my spine. This natural curve along with the disks act like a spring to help obsorb empack. I lost this curve from sitting and bending incorrectly over 40 years. The disk was sticking out of my spine to far and ruptured putting more presure on the nerve that goes to my leg.
So boys and girls, yes getting old sucks, but take care of your bodies now so you dont end up like me.
wow, that was a long post. time to pop some meds, whos got a beer? J/K
