When do you guys think a buyer can get the best deal on a boat? Now or even later in winter or even spring? I'm looking between $8k and $12k. Thanks Everyone

Late end of summer or early start of spring.

Current or non-current model years?

Why during those times? Any difference for new boats from dealers?

I was wondering about 07s and 08s.

Dave, I think now or soon would be a good time to buy a used boat. You still have time to test drive it and the alternative to selling to you is storing it for the winter so you have more power.

New boat I'd wait until year end to help clean up the inventory on the books.

Seems to me that late summer or fall is the best time to be buying just about any year boat. Dealers & owners are thinking about storage... or not, and are inspired to unload boats at lower prices to get rid of them.

A friend of mine just picked up an 01 X-30 for under $27k.
And another guy I know is en route to pick up an 08 X2 for $54k.

I have no affiliation with this boat, but I saw this on craigslist locally. It would be a long drive, but seems like a great deal. right in your price range.

I had emailed that guy about the 2000 205 here is the response I got back from him:

Hi there, first i would like to let you know that boat is in perfect condition ready for water, located in Jenison, MI. I can ship the boat anywhere is US. The total price including the shipping is $9,600. You can download 2 more pictures from my web site. Here is :

Take a look, and let me know. I found a secure way to complete the transaction. Thanks

I emailed him back and told him I wanted to come see the boat because I wasn't very far away and asked for a phone number to set up a meeting but have yet to hear back from him. Sounds sort of fishy!!

BTW I have not clicked on the attachments so I have no idea what they are!!

Best prices seem to be between Labor Day and the Boat shows late in winter.....or in other words NOW! If you are financing and live north of TX and Fla, I'm not sure the price break makes up for the added interest and payments you have to make over the periods of non-use though.

I would say right now is a good time to buy.

I've had good experience in the months of Nov/Dec.

After Labor day is usually the best time to buy, or at the baot show if your buying new. I always find it's easier to sell right after the boat shows b/c everyone gets sticker shock on what a "new" one is gonna cost.

True dat Adam. It really depends on the location. In the south most are still riding. But with the economy the way it is, now should be a pretty good time anywhere.

Now, for used. The owners that didn't use the boat all summer don't want to hold it until spring when they might get a better price. They are generally motivated to get what they can and move on.

best time is between November to January.

I think the best time is right now until before Christmas. A lot of people who fail to liquidate their boat before the new year will wait for spring prices to go back up. End of the season IMO is the best time.

Todd that sounds really fishy to me. All the signs of a scam.

That MC on craigs is a scam. Flag the add so it gets removed and doesn't waste anyone else's time.
