I am trying to find which pump would be the best to use for my ballast install. I am going to go w/the aerator style pumps to fill and empty. I am just trying to find out which ones are the best for ballast. Do they need to be self priming. Also where can I get the hose I will need for the install? Thanks all

many people will say Tsunami - a 1200gph pump for $30 - not bad. They have a 1 1/8 threaded inlet which makes it challenging to design a manifold. It can be done

I went with Rule 1100gph just so I could use standard pvc fittings on my manifold

I used flexible spa hose and there are some tips on how to work with it.

Aerator pumps are not self priming, they need to be below the waterline.

I went with the $30 tsunami's .
I do not recomend them.
PITA !!!
the pumps I purchased from wakeside had 1-3/8"-12 thread. I tried several places and could not find ANYONE that makes fittings for this bastard thread size.

go with the rule's
I found the stndard fitting's & hose at the local big box hardware store, (lowe's had a better selection than home depot).

Thanks Rich,,I am glad you told me about the Rule pumps. Where is the best place to purchase the pumps? I will need 4,,2-fill 2-empty. On your install,,,did you just do one thru-hull scupper for all three fill pumps? Does that slow it down any?

I bought the 800gph tsunami pumps and have had no issues with them because they are 3/4" threaded.
