What do you guys think of the Mastercraft Tristars? Would they make a good wakeboat?

We had a 89 closed bow for a cpl. years, and IMHO it was a great boat. The max. amount you can load them up with ballast is around 1500 lbs., but even with that and a 4 blade prop the boat had no prob getting out of the hole. Wake is avg. width/heighth with no visible lip, kind of a round top to it, but always stayed clean riding at 25MPH/80+ ft. of rope. Personally I learned alot of "advanced" tricks behind our TriStar, and I kinda miss it. If the price is right, say under 9K, this is a great starter boat.

The Tristars were a great quality boat, and since their pretty lightweight, had a great power/weight ratio.

But they had some funky features that sort of made them unpopular compared to other MCs. The integrated swimstep actually counts as a part of the overall length. So in other words, a 19' Tristar would have almost 2' less interior space than a 19' Prostar (bolt on swimstep).

Seems like they didn't have the skegs under the boat either... which would be bad for tracking. This may or may not be an issue depending on how you ride. You might check on this though.

I considered the Tristar for a a while. But ended up going with a Prostar 205 that was a few years newer. Drive the two & it should be obvious why.

Wow, good price. Go look it over. If it's in good shape, then see if you think you can work with the interior. Their definitely good boats for 3 or 4 riders.
