DID YOU SEE ALL THE BUTTER!!! man thats sad all that butter and you guys are hackin it up with a tube. I've never really understood what the fun of fast offshore boats are in a smooth lake. Get that thing in some swell and now were talkin fun!!! Just seems like a big ass waste of $ to me.

I rode in a ~36' 100 mph Fountain a couple months ago, pretty sweet once you get going but it took FOREVER to get up to speed. Pretty cool going that fast in something with a kitchen. It was a bigger boat than that one, with twin blown big blocks.

i always get so curious when i see threads about a boat going 100+mph down "a river"? i guess in idaho our "rivers" are a little different than what your version of a "river" is?.. something to be said for aluminum tunnel hulls with 750 hp engines bouncing off of rocks and still remaining competitive... going upriver..

Nothing like riding a tube with direct exhausts hammering at your ears. I hate noise.

We use to take offshore boats from Palm Beach to the Keys. On the ride back everybody was in the boat with silent choice while the direct exhaust driver had to search for a friend.

Wasn't there a thread a while back about hippety hop's as bumpers? I think that tug decided the small 18" wasn't going to cut it. he had to go with the 32" from toys r us

Offshore race boats are a whole other world, we have am 18' 73 Donzi x-18 with a chevy 350 in it. We were looking at a 39' cigarette with 2 502's in it . I love our donzi though, its so much fun and its so rare. Theres like 1 or 2 other ones a little like it on lake wa. Its just a classic boat. We take it to chelan every year and up until they put trim tabs on the ferries, we used to jump the ferry waves and get the prop 2 or 3 feet outta the water. Massive fun and its what the boat is meant for.

Never been much for the off shore boats but I can say I have dabbled in drag boats. A whole other type of rush doing 138.2 in a 1/4 mile in just under 9 seconds.

Once saw a drag boat named "Madness" hit 215 mph!

Jesse,

I saw Madness run a few passes in his day. Awesome boat. The gound shakes when he's midway through the pass. 215 won't even qualify you these days. I believe they are up to 235 to 240 in the quarter!!

Ken,

Crazy! I have to get to another race one of these days, like to take my two boys and show them some boat speed. Any idea if they run around NorCal?

Jesse,

Check out http://www.ihbaracing.com/
Looks like they have 3 races in Cali this year. I'm about 2 hours away from the Marble Falls, Texas race in August. I might check it out this year. I've got a 7 year old girl but she really digs boats. Just might take her to her first drag race this summer. She thinks my Nautique is fast!!
Ahh to be young again.
Have a safe Memorial Day Weekend.

Ken

Thanks Ken, looks like I just got new plans for one day this weekend. They are racing in Red bluff which is close enough for a day trip with the fam.

The crazy thing is that Scott Pellaton of barefoot and Sanger fame barefooted faster than that when he set the world record. 135.74 MPH!
