I need two amps to push 2 tower speakers(aprox. 125 watts each) and a 12in polk momo in a plexi enclosure(100-500rms 1000peak). I was thinking about a JL AUDIO 300/2 for the tower and a 500/1 for the sub. Do you think these would be suitable. Also, do you think I could get away with a 250/1 to power the sub. Everyone I talk to says the Jl AUDIO under rates their subs. Anyone no a good place to buy JL AUDIO amps online other than ebay? Thanks

JL amps are great. for a very inexpensive and very highly rated sub amp look for the jbl bp300.1 on ebay. I would look at the 600 watt version. very inexpensive on ebay. I normally hate jbl stuff but these are awesome sub amps.

the JL amps you mentioned would run your system good, but in my opinion you won't need JL amps, i would go with something a little cheaper, you won't notice the extra sound quality on the water. but it's your money, so i'm not going to tell you how to spend it, just give you my opinion

Ryan,
What amps would you recommend?

i would stick to something like memphis (Awesome amps with a reasonable price) or kicker, forgate. as long as you go with a good name brand you're doing good. if it was me personally i would go to a few diffrent shops, check out the people that work there, and see how they want to work with you. and another big thing is the warranty on the amps, some stores will just swap out the product if you hurt it, but others will just send it in, and that's entirely up to the store. it wouldn't be cool if you ruint a amp in the first of june and it was the end of july/early august before you got it back.

I'm not trying to keep you from buying JL amps, they're a great product. but a JL amp is a very high end sound quality amp, but not any better quality built than any of the names i mentioned above. with JL you're paying for sound quality and you're not going to be able to tell a difference on you boat in the middle of a lake, now in a car is a whole diffrent story. I'm just letting you know the information so maybe you won't spend your hard earned money on a pricey amp, that you might not really need.

if you have any more questions let me know

i run memphis in my boat. the class d mono sub amps are nice, and really hard to make clip which is good news for the longevity of your subs. they don't allow "online" distributers to sell them, so it is either pay more money at a local shop, or get them a LOT cheaper on Ebay.
