i zoomed on the second photo and enhanced it and the boar says JSTAR. And looking at the rider, the shape, and definitely the boots, that has got to be keith lidberg and that must be his 2010 pro model. Totally stoked about that!

FWIW, I saw the 2010 Andrew Adkinson bindings last week. Looked a lot like the LF Vantage bindings (3 velcro straps) with a closed toe.

Nope sorry Ryan...the second photo is straight from a paul o'brien twitter saying check one of the most underrated riders brad smelle at the 2010 ronix catalog shoot.

I think it is either the mana or arcade judging by the molded in fins.

Evan ~~ Where did you find the first pic of the MP rider on his Ronix? I know that board has a custom wrap on it just to look different then anybody else at Dewey's rail jam in SLC, UT. I don't know who did the wrap on it but seen it in person and it looked pretty sharp.

Well Ive been hearing that the new slingshot BOOTS are being made in the BURTON Factory and are supposed to be sick. The boards I here are pretty much the same as the 09 with different graphics. I hear bright solid colors on the bottom. I cant get enough of the slingshot stuff.

Nick Tomsyck, unfortunately you are misinformed. The AA's would not be described as a "vantage + hinge". Yes, they do use velcro and the Hinge has been redesigned.
Old     (behindtheboat)      Join Date: Aug 2006       07-28-2009, 12:46 PM Reply
^^^ Seriously? If he really saw them with his eyes, how is he misinformed? You also seem to be assuming the "vantage + hinge" is a bad thing....

^ The female one is what I was describing.

Don't know the name of the boot, I know it was a girl boot, but I feel it wasn't a high end one.

do the vantages have 3 velcro straps? do the new aa bindings have 3 velcro straps? sounds like they look alike to me, which is what nick was saying. so how exactly was he "misinformed?"

The AA's are constructed w/ new plate, new footbed, new hardware, impact damping zone, different velcro system, close toe, ultra light, new heel lock system, etc. Posting that "i saw the girl version of them, it was just like a vantage + hinge" would be stating incorrect information. And yes I'm serious.
Old     (bbr)      Join Date: Apr 2002       07-28-2009, 12:56 PM Reply
^^^ That boot isn't the AA boot.^^^ It is another boot in the lineup, but it is not AA's. That, I am for sure on.
Old     (sidekicknicholas)      Join Date: Mar 2007       07-28-2009, 12:58 PM Reply
^ I never said they were the AA... I said I saw some girl boots that sounded similar.

I'm sorry my eyes cannot see impact damping zones, or ultra light (what?!).

I saw a boot (with 3 velcro straps) as the AA was described earlier.... the ones I saw, were perfectly describe by me.... the pictures I posted should illustrate that.

casey, please explain to me how him saying they look like vantages w/ hinges would "stating incorrect information."

If other companies are doing the velcro thing PLEASE PLEASE tell me your making the straps replaceable for those of us who ride them a lot...? Just put D-rings on both ends so we can simply swap out the straps when the velcro dies.

Joe, first off the Sage (the boot Nick used as his example to describe the AA), Vantage, and AA boots are totally different. Second the AA does not use a Hinge system. Yes, they use velcro. Look if we are going to call any future boot that uses velcro "just like a Vantage" then that's okay w/ me. It's all good.
Old     (sidekicknicholas)      Join Date: Mar 2007       07-28-2009, 1:24 PM Reply
Would you say the Sage, could be described to someone as combining a vantage with a hinge?
Old     (dakid)      Join Date: Feb 2001       07-28-2009, 1:29 PM Reply
do the bindings nick described use a hinge system?
do the bindings nick described have 3 fat velcro straps across the top of each boot?

if "yes" to both, then i'd say nick wasn't "stating incorrect information." who's to say he's wrong that he thinks they look like vantages w/ hinges? sure, you can say what the differences are, but you can't tell him that he's wrong for thinking that they look alike.
Old     (jarrod)      Join Date: May 2003       07-28-2009, 2:06 PM Reply
Matt, I heard the velcro straps are not replaceable. But, if it makes you feel any better. I've been riding the boots in the picture above all season, and there's no sign of failure so far.

The open toe 3-strap velcro hinge boot is the Vapor. This is no longer a multi-size boot.

Closed toe, no hinge is the AA I believe.

Velcro makes the whole string fastening systems seem stupid. Hopefully most boots are velcro moving forward. They never come loose, easy to adjust while you ride, faster in and out, and more durable. Props to LF for bringing back simplicity first. I'm glad c-dub is going to offer velcro now too. I've been asking for it for years.

Looks like I'll get to try a bunch of this tomorrow. Including the Vibe board. woo hoo. Pics and reviews to come...

joe ur just being stupid now..... I think IT IS incorrect to say "they look like vantages w/ hinges" because they ARE NOT vantages w/ hinges.

Thats like saying 2 bindings with dual laces are the same.

Or like saying that "CWB makes watsons w/ a hinge"

You do come off to know almost everything on these discussion boards joe.... be proud of that.

Fact is, they are 2 different boots, made by 2 different companies.

clayton, you're just being an idiot. fact is, neither nick nor i ever said they were vantages.

you did come off as a ********...be proud of that.

I don't intend to add to the drama of the CWB gear, but the video of the marius boot, showing the "new heel cup locking system/ the new hinge" concerns me a bit.

it looked like it was so effortless to pivot the hinge into the open position... easy enough that maybe just the shear force of the water hitting the back of the boots on a hard heelside cut would move the hinge???

everything else sounded great though. i'll be excited to see 'em in person and see more from expo in generall

why, cause i disagreed w/ one person's wording and responded to another person in the same manner that he "spoke" to me? that makes me a 10 year old? ok, mature guy, so be it. i'm 10 years old.

And we all know how much trouble you can get in around here for disagreeing with people.

...but those boots do have a basic appearance similar to a Vantage. Just sayin.
Old     (hyule)      Join Date: Nov 2006       07-29-2009, 5:36 AM Reply
im sayin too....if i saw them as in nick's pic and someone asked me what they looked like...i would turn to them and say "they look like vantages with the hinge"...may not be 100% accurate...hey, it may even be slightly misleading...but, for the sake of a simple conversation, its a pretty reasonable assessment
Old     (anthemwake)      Join Date: Oct 2005       07-29-2009, 5:43 AM Reply
^^^Exactly. I wouldn't expect to see "It's like a Vantage!" in the 2010 CWB catalog or anything, but for a handful of people on the internet talking about one picture, it doesn't seem like an unreasonable comparison.

I'll post pics of the new hinge system tonight. I like the fact that you can hardly tell it's there. Much less of an eye sore.

I think life is much better lead in the present. People can look to the future and be excited, but to get butt hurt and call names over something like wakeboard boots has got to be the most trivial thing I've heard in awhile.

When looking at videos/pictures of product that you haven't used, what is the point of conjecture? "Oh the Hinge looks effortless and that concerns me". How about use them and create an informed decision? I know everyone has the right to say whatever they want, but do you really get off making stuff up?

Anyways, that is my rant. Get out and ride!!
