Some say its cheating to do a wrapped 360. To me it just another trick where you can grab longer and maybe poke it out. If any of you have tried wrapped tricks to me they are harder to control then a reg pass 360 or blind 180.

i just learned fs and bs wrapped off axis 5s. took a lot of BAD falls. (no cheating there) also learned wrapped KGB..
you can hold the grap a lot longer. when you get up to it try hitting it off the Double up that is CRAZY. weird to cut in

I think the toughest part of a wrapped 3 is holding on to the rope after the pop to initiate on on-axis spin. But as soon as you let go just hang on, grab that board and it does all the work for you.

I find that I spin a LOT faster when I try wrapped 3's. I have landed quite a few, but they all look really low and ugly. I think I kinda scare myself into not going big on those because the feeling is SO akward. Any one else have some tips?

Ive never tried a wrap three, but I do land some 3's wrapped and I love doing that, great way to grab longer (not that i do).

mike, that is awsome. i am just learning 3's wrapped because for some reason the crashes are not that severe for me, but i was also hoping that riding wrapped would eventually help me in landing wrapped?, what do you think?

Ask Randy Harris if wrapped spins are cheating?

I used to land wrapped back in the day when people rode 18 mph on a 55 foot rope.... it is cool.

Yeah I spin way faster and do not get nearly as high. People in the boat say it looks cool until I leave the wake b/c it looks like something complicated and hard, but the handle pass 3s look way bigger better and smoother.

I have concerns with the rope getting caught as I leave the wake - happened once but it came out right away. I try to keep the handle on my a$$ as I approach to limit this occurance.

I pretty much bagged wrap spins when I figured out how to do handle passes, but I still think they look cool. I tried some wrapped TS/BS 3's last year and had a hell of a time getting good pop, so I flushed it and went back to handle pass TS/BS 180's. I definitely wouldn't say they are easier if you are doing a legit grabbed, wrapped spin.

BTW, Josh Smith and Auron Aubrey are masters of the stylie grabbed, wrapped spins.

Evan:

I can do those inconsistently (Indy TS BS 3). The problem is the occassional trainwrecks involved since it's so easy to loose your axis. When I screw them up I ten to over rotate them and land in the trough backwards... ouch. When I do them clean it's my favorite trick. It looks good since you can grab for so long. Try pulling 90 percent with the front handle and exaggerate pushing your chest up off the wake. That helps me at least.

Oh yeah, wrapping is not cheating if it either makes the trick look better or if you just prefer doing them that way

Yeah most of that effort is in the front hand. you gotta make sure you pop off the wake before you spin, or as said you end up in a trainwreck. But no way is it cheating, I love wrapped tricks. IMO you should just do both that way no-one can argue.
