What would you use? I am looking at the clarion EQS746 or the PAC LC-1. Which would be better for the boat? IT will be installed in the glove box of a SAN 210. I am more concerned about water damage. Would the PAC be a little better to use for this?

It is going to control tower speakers, and a sub. So I would get 2 pacs or the equalizer.

I prefer the tunning of the eq as well as the built in line driver. I've been using 2 of the clarion units for a while now. I may drop to just one.

Pacs are more water resistant. Pacs are easier to install anywhere. Just patch between the hu and amp and your done. If you're after the bling factor or bragging rights then the pacs won't give you that. You have to ask yourself what your after, fading the tower & sub or tweaking your music? Are you a music audiophile? IMO it's not worth the hassle as the hu's these days can get it pretty good as it is. If your doing music comps then an eq would be worth it i guess.

if your concerned about water dammage in the glove box of a SAN 210 then I think a EQ is the last thing you should be worried about.

To answer your question IMO a EQ blows away a PAC LC-1 a EQ will do everything that a LC-1 does and much more

Remember most eq's will boost line voltage, witch is always a good thing.

nah, i am just doing something to fade the tower and the sub. I can get them for about the same cost, so just wondering what would be best i guess. I am know the equalizer would be better sound wise, but i have a feeling i might fry it in the boat with dripping people getting into my glove box. And all i want to do is fade, the equalizer looks like it might be a littler harder to do that when it wants to adjust front/rear and such.

well it wont get direct water on it, my head unit is in there, it is protected and dosnt get direct water obviously, just didnt know if it would hold up as well in a marine environment.

Can the equalizer fade the tower as a whole? I dont need front rear, all i want is to fade both tower speakers together when i dont feel like blasting it and just listen to the interior speakers.

yeah chas know wat hes talking about he did my boat also i wouldnt put it in the glove box that would be a pain to get to i would put it under the steering wheel so its easy to get to and control while ur driving.

i dont want to put it so far away b/c i dont want to run the wires that far....i dont plan on adjusting it a ton, just when the rents get in the boat, or when it has been a long day and i dont want to blast from the tower. I just need to check and see where i can mount the little guy easily.
