This is a good start to their team rebuild I'd say.

man...I got to think that there were some huge dollar figures in that deal to get Rusty to sign, huh?

Maybe. Did the Jstar contract actually end, or did HO pull a switcheroo I wonder?

Not sure if that's even possible but just a thought.

no doubt he will be riding the 3ds, i wouldnt be suprised if that just turns into the RUSTY model, not much diff from the Empire.

congrats to Rusty, super nice guy.

could this be the start of board designs moving toward the larger-rider?

I hope so.

Yea strong cornerstone for the new team, for sure.

Hey Nacho,

I agree a 143 is a large board BUT I am sure a fella like RM could lend an opinion on the designs needed to make a 143 more suitable and easier to ride for the larger rider. Such as weight reduction, rocker, total surface area, edge design which compensates for the larger surface area etc.

Anyway RM is larger than what I am but i still
ride a 143. At 190lbs I need all the help I can get . . . maybe I am wrong !
Old     (denverd1)      Join Date: May 2004 Location: Tyler       01-09-2007, 9:13 AM Reply
I'm 200 and ride the 43 too. that thing is tank. But, thats just the way the 3DS is so I don't know if weight reduction is an option. i agree tho, some design improvements are in order. like binding placement on the board. At some point we can't spread them out any more!

I wonder if his offer was as lucrative as Darin Shapiro's a few years ago?

Anyone see the story where Danny, Rusty, Andrew, and...I want to say Watson(?) swapped boards? Rusty killed it on the 138 Transcend!

You know he secretly wishes he could ride for CWB now. That board is the shiznit!!

I want to see that story, let me know if you can find it J-Rod!

Just like to take this opportunity to point out a post I made in 05.

How about it now? Anyone still think Parks can hang with the current leaders?
Old     (jarrod)      Join Date: May 2003       01-10-2007, 12:46 PM Reply
So....what's the point? It seems that until Parks is healthy enough to TRY to make a come back, you don't have one.

"How about it now? Anyone still think Parks can hang with the current leaders?"

If his body will allow the continued abuse, I assure you the technical ability is there.

not many disagreed with you then. I think he could if he wanted to, but why would he. Nothing to prove and no real motivation

I'm not a hater. I'm a fan. Just curious to see what the rumor mill has to say.

Yep, a healthy Parks can hang with the current leaders all day Glen.

So any insiders know? Will he be healthy in 07? Love to see a Rusty / Parks dominated season.
Old     (ttrigo)      Join Date: Dec 2004       01-10-2007, 1:05 PM Reply
I don't know if Parks has that kind of determination anymore. I think you can expect to continue to see Harf, Rusty, Adkison, and Santori up there on a regular basis. and dont forget about the aussies. (sp??)

i just don't see him busting his ass to get back on top. All for what? to win more comps? sell more boards? He's prolly pissed byerly busted out his own line (making it harder for him to do the same...)

I wouldn't be suprised to see Parks come out shooting. With both Rusty and Danny landing 10's and him spending his time in PT I bet he's got the itch to ride pretty bad.

We'll see. You can never count Parks out. I dont think he's ever even had to try hard on a wakeboard.
Old     (behindtheboat)      Join Date: Aug 2006       01-10-2007, 1:30 PM Reply
Are you for real? Of course he wants to come back and dominate and he def is going to! Back in the day no one pushed him, he had to push himself, so this is the opportunity for him to come back and have a challenge.

Whats so special about Byerly busting out his own line? Pretty much the same thing as having your own pro line of boards under a manufacturer, just without Hyperlite directly attached

Parks is with Ronix now and I am sure he is working on his new board for 08, will he go out and win every comp? No, but I would never count him out and I think he can still be one of the top riders on the tour.
We will see.

to me Parks has already achieved everything a career in wakeboarding can offer. I would expect him to capitalize on the ridiculously strong branding his name, riding and products have created. What Byerly did is not the norm, breaking out of being sponsored with a pro model to calling the shots on his own line. I was thinking Parks would do something similar if he was to focus more on his products. You just wouldn't do it in the shadow of Scott Byerly

Well Parks is part owner of Ronix if I am not mistaken.

is Ruck with Ronix? I did not know that.

As far as I know Ruck is still riding for HL. At least according to their Web site.

i think parks's place in wakeboarding is solidified regardless of how he comes off the injury and i agree with those who said if hes healthy dont count him out...not by a long shot....im willing to bet if his health holds up we could see some excellent riding. dont think hell have a prob keeping up.

Well owning a piece of ronix is nothing new. And hopefully I'm wrong and he'll compete aggressively again. we'd see some good ridin' for sure.

Thanks, thats awesome... wish they would have told who was riding what. The only two that seemed to get the same height with the same amount of effort was Rusty and Ruck.

Alliance mag has the full article I think.

I noticed on the inside cover of Wakeboarding Mags.Boat buyers guide that Chris O'Shea is on the 3DS. I wonder which board that will put Rusty on?

if u don't think parks is coming back ur crazy..... the guy is only like 25 or 26 years old which puts him right in the age group as a lot of the top pros... hes going to come back with his new pro model tweaked exactly to what he wants and he is going to kill it...
Old     (dekay)      Join Date: Sep 2006       02-11-2007, 5:19 PM Reply
1. I believe that because Parks hasn't been able to ride for such a long time, he'll be dying to come back and had his name heard about sticking some more 10's.
2. I also think he is working on his board for '08, he's in a new Ronix ad in the latest Alliance, which would suggest a new line, considering everyone else who has a line did a Ronix ad.
3. Parks will kill it better than ever having more of a craving to ride, not motivation.
4. Once he's back on top, the motivation to stay on top will definately kick in.
Old     (ponyh8r)      Join Date: Dec 2004       02-11-2007, 7:26 PM Reply
I wouldn't be surprised to see Parks as the world champ agian one day. He just seems really motivated to ride and to heal up. I was really impressed w/ his interview in alliance and think that if anyone can do it, Parks can.
Old     (hyperlitenrd)      Join Date: Jan 2003       02-11-2007, 8:03 PM Reply
Parks was getting a bit big around the stomach, then he got hurt, and has been out for a while. He was the best when he was gaining weight. I think he is going to come back hard! I would love to see him com e back and step it up!
Old     (h2oterroristo)      Join Date: Apr 2006       02-11-2007, 9:05 PM Reply
Just ask him if you see him at a boat show and he'll tell you; he is finalizing a new board right now, and yeah, he's not going anywhere.
