Wakepics accepts quicktime videos without any problem - just make sure the file isn't too big. I think the limit is either 20 or 25MB.

How long are you videos?

You should be able to get them down to 3-4 mb per minute.

Are you using Sorenson?

Yup 86 mb is not right.

If the presets are anything like those in Premiere Pro, you are going to be hard pressed to get full control over the encoding process. Still you should be able to get your final video to under 5 mb.

I'm not familiar with FCP, but look for something in the presets for Medium Progress Download. That should produce a video that's 320 x 240 with a und 500 Kbps bit rate.

Are you using Final Cut Pro?

depends on what your settings are when you export it.

thats like saying, "isnt dvd better quality than cd-rom?" Not nessesarily.

I found this forum, it might help in your search for exporting video for the web in FCP: http://www.uemforums.com/2pop/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php

The easiest way is to export to q-time from final cut at full res. Then open your full res copy in q-time and do a save as, and then in your settings tab make your size adjustments. that way you also have a full res copy and a web sized copy. Also always make sure you have the make movie self contained box checked when you export.

This is easy:

* Export using compressor
* when the Batch window comes up, pull doen the present menu

* choose MPEG-4 NTSC Source Material, then MPEG-4 Improved NTSC Large Progressive

* you can then choose the same but small progressive. compressor will make 2 versions at once,

I guarantee that this will work - I've done it lots of times!
