My friend Dusty is trying to decide which size Marius Platty he wants.... He has been riding a 2006 Marius 134 for about a year, and he likes it alot, but now that he is going to step up to the platty, he was concerned which size board he should get. He weighs 170lbs and can land tantrums and BS 360's along with some other stuff.... Any advice would be great!!

THANKS!

If he likes the current size, why should he change?

I wouldn't change length...or try a 140 before buying.

Rode the 134 last year, now I am on the 140 platty. The biggest difference that I have noticed is the landings out in the flats, definitely softer. As far as the ride maybe a little difference in speed. Trust me; you can get on the gas when you want! The regular 140 felt a little slow and heavy for me. Platty 140 or reg 134 would be fine. Demo, and check it out.

True, why should he change if he likes it....BUT, he's asking our opinion.

I have been a CWB team Faction rider since late 2003 (who cares tho). I have been on all their boards and know them pretty well. "My opinion", he would ride the 140 better with his weight class. Tonis is right on with what he said. My thoughts are the same.

Try both tho, everyone has their own style. He might actually like the bigger board for comfort.

CWB Team Faction Rider?

It says in your profile you are riding Ronix.

I recently switched. I blame it on a best friend that happens to be the North America Sales Mgr for Ronix. Couldn't resist, BUT I absolutely LOVE CWB and will always back them up or support them. Still love my CWB Marius Platty in the garage with my faction bindings.

:-) :-)

Hijack--

So you are sponsored by Ronix, but admit to loving CWB and always supporting them? Doesnt that defy the point of being sponsored.

Am I missing something?

ok sooooo..... he has no way to demo either board... and I think the reason he likes his 134 is because he hasnt tried a bigger board.... I dunno, any more suggestions??

I never claimed to be sponsored by Ronix. I'm just riding their equipment. I ride for fun these days. "I recently switched" gear.

I have no sponsors anymore.

sorry for these hijacks Chris.

Can he not go to a board shop in his area and Demo the boards? Out here in AZ, you can pay something like 20 bucks at SKIPRO and demo a board for a day?

Chris- If your buddy cant demo, then it will fall on what kind of style rider he is. If he is more advanced, boots it out in the flats... 140 (4 softer landings). If he is more of a wake2wake guy keep the 134.

Thats cool Keith, I just saw your post and went to look at your profile to see what CWB board you were riding and I saw Ronix.

Sorry for the hijack!
Chris you could ride either size, remember switching to the platty will shave off a pound, so going to a 140cm platty, the board will still be lighter then a foam core 134.

The Marius 134 Foam Core weight is 7.7lbs
The 140 Marius Platty weight is 6.9 lbs
