Need to make a final decision!

Here are the facts-

Beginner/intemediate level rider
Only ride boat. No cable
My weighted I/O has a smallish wake but regularly ride behind a buddys x2
Looking for huge pop

I heard that the response has more flex and as I ride on the sea this will help soften any chop.

What do you guys suggest Recoil or Response?

since you ride a motive now (from your profile) I would say response.

if you want to give 3-stage a try, go recoil

Is the difference really as chalk and cheese as the marketing suggests? Will the recoil have a lot more pop than the response?

Tom I may have my 2010 recoil 142 for sale. Just got a watson hybrid want to do a couple more runs on the hybrid then make the decision. Its in brand new condition and would be much cheaper than retail. I did love my recoil.

neither of those boards will mange choppy water well. They are too thin and the flex makes chop worse. I'd say go with recoil. The 3 stage will likely have more pop, but will be slower on the water.

i just picked up the new reflex this past weekend. i rode the recoil in 08, & the response in 09. i was more consistant on the response but it was too fast for my style. the reflex is a hybrid of the two. it has great pop & is a little slower than the response. i love it. they are marketing it for rails, but it rocks behind the boat! demo one if u can.

Is that true? How do flex boards perform in choppy water?

I've never had a problem riding in choppy water.... maybe if you're finless at a cable or something, you could lose your edge or something..... if you know how to edge you'll be fine.

Slingshot boards actually handle choppy water better than most boards on the market. They're designed to be extremely dampening, and not to reverse flex. Each model has a specific flex pattern intended to provide the proper characteristics of a continuous rocker, 3-stage rocker, etc....which is also why they land so soft, and have such explosive pop off the wake.
