what kind of anchor?

Gonna have to get one here in the next couple of weeks and I was wondering what kind I should pick up. Thanks in advance.

I have had good results with a box anchor. Check them out. They hold well when we are the River.

10+ lb. Cast Iron Navy Anchor (www.go2marine.com) with at least 8' of heavy chain connected to an anchor buddy. After years of different things I find this is my best combination for convenience, size, and holding power. It goes into a small duffel bag before going into the boat, be careful with rust stains and boat interior.

Do a search here for anchors. It has been discussed several times. IMO, the box anchor can't be beat. It's great not to have big chunk of chain to deal with (and scratch up the boat). I have several types of anchors, and the box without a doubt, holds best. Just my opinion.

I'm not sure how much it weighs. If I had to guess I would say 20 pounds, that sucker is heavy.

It's small enough folded that I leave it in a bow locker with two 100' ropes and one of them Slide Anchor beach spikes with room to spare. My only wish is that I had two of them for anchoring in coves. It's galvanized and there's not a hint of corrosion after three years. I've been using a cheap anchor line and know that one of these days it'll break and I'll lose my $100 anchor. Hopefully this year I'll get some brains and get good line from West Marine and some stainless safety wire to secure the shackle bolt dealio.
