Looking at 2 '07 MC X-30s. One with a MCX 350 and the other with a Indmar 400. Boat with 350 has more of the options I want and price is better, but am interested in peoples experience with the 350. Is it sufficient power for the boat.

The MCX in an X-30 is sufficient, don't let that stop you from choosing the nicer boat.

Travis Moye will tell you that the MCX is probably the best motor Mastercraft makes. W/ a reprop it is the goods.

Mike..The 07's came standard with the 14.25 x 14.25 props that you are speaking about so it's good to go right out of the showroom!

I've been in a MCX powered X-30 with 1500lbs of extra weight and the boat still performed great!

Shoot we have an 06 X-30 with the MCX, and with > 7 people on the boat it lags getting on plane, with any more people its downright painful. Anyone know what size prop it came with in 06?

Also where can I get a 14.25 x 14.25 prop?

You'll want the ACME 1235 it's 14.25X14.5. Boarditup.com has the cheapest prices around on them.

You will need the OJ 14.25 X 14.5 XMP EDGE.

Hello David, I have the MCX in my X-45. I love HP and most would agree more is always better. However, you need to consider how you will be using the boat. When boarding, I usually have 3-4 people with the factory ballast full and sometimes a vrdive (400lbs) fat sack sittin up front. No problem getting my friend up who is 6'2" 245lbs.

What options does the MCX boat have and what is the price they are quoting for engine upgrade?

i ride behind an 06 x-30 with the 350 and it performs just fine. we ride with the factory ballast full, 400 lbs in the rear lockers, 300 in the bow, and put people around the boat accordingly and the boat performs just fine. we did get a different prop, i think it is the 14.25 x 14.25, nick clasen can tell you for sure.

Thanks for the input. I went with the 350 HP on the X-30. The boats had different options, but on direct list comparison, I ended up at 72K with the trailer which was almost 7K less than the other one on an apples to apples basis when I considered the relative values offered for the trade-in. The boat had everything including the black and pro-tour red coloring.

72K? We paid 79K (I think - have to check reciept) fully loaded without a trailer!

Great deal man!

drewdown, found seller that just lost dealership to new local group. They were a bit bitter and had no concerns about setting future discounting precedents or taking a sale from the new guys. Also getting late in the season here in the Pacific North area so they are more willing to deal

Re engine upgrade pricing - both the 350 and 400 are upgrades from the stock 310 (which doesn't really ever get ordered). I think the 350 was about 4k more than the 310 and the 400 was around 6k more roughly. In my case, the boats were already in stock.

Nice...have you had a chance to turn on the rear lights? I understand the legality of boarding as the sun goes down, but....

no haven't tried yet. Sheriff is very active where I boat this time of year. Their slip is only 30 yards from mine and these guys are sometimes out past sunset. In any event, the rear lights look kinda small - the cans are speakers - each of which has a front beam light.

Solid man. Looks like my boat, except ours is yellow in the front and blue in the back. What options did you get? Hopefully you got the driver stereo controls, otherwise its a PITA to control the stereo.

Not sure if they changed the lights from the 06's but with ours the rear lights dont do all that much. Pretty useless if you ask me.

I have an '06 X30 with the MCX engine and I WISH I had the LQ9 with the additional horse power!!!

We usually ride with 5-8 peeps and factory ballast full. The only way to get on plane is to put the trim all the way down and wait about 30 secs for Perfect pass to engage. The larger engine would take care of that problem.

When wakesurfing its no big deal since we only go 11mph. However pulling a heavy rider or having a full boat makes the MCX engine a literal drag!!! I bought my boat used and did not have a choice, nor did I know the difference between a canoe or a wakeboard boat when I started looking.

Now that I ride 2-3 times a week I would have done anything at almost any price to have a more powerful engine. With that said the MCX engine gets the job done and with the trim engaged its not that big of a deal to wait it out and get on plane. Just be prepared to spend $$$ on gas! Enjoy that boat I am psyched to have a MC!!!

Jason - What propeller are you running with your MCX?

Re options: in addition to the 4 JBLs on the tower w/lights: drive stereo control, mp3 input, swim platform stereo control, PPass, auto goo dispenser, heated seats, and a traveling/mooring cover which is super easy to put on. Front lights are strong, but the Bimini cuts out the water lighting. Haven't got rear lights going yet - on the list for upcoming service this weekend. Are the '06 lights the 3 small blue colored ones as well? I think they also upped the power on the heaters with one at the drivers chair and 2 extendables in the back seating area.

I have to the stock prop and have been thinking of upgrading to an Acme prop with more drive... What's your opinion Eric?

Bryan you are correct. We build the 14.25 X 14.5 LC Splined XMP EDGE for the MCX motor. The 14.25 X 14 LC is also an option. You are welcome to give them both a try and determine which size fits your needs best. Give me a call if you are interested.
