My dad and i are constatly talking about upgrades/projects that we'd like to do to our boats, and one day i brought up the question of whether we will ever be done. Now my boat is a late 80's malibu sunsetter so obviously i have a lot of projects to get it closer to todays standards but my dad has an 06 X Star and he is still finding stuff to do on it.

So what do you guys think, will you ever get to a point where you feel that your done, or will there always be something that you'll want to change or upgrade?

If they never came up with another new thingamabob for your boat than I would be close. I dont see that happening as it seems every year there is a something new. I am working on LED upgrades right now so we shall see what next year brings.

I owned my last boat for 5 years, it was a 1986 I/O that every year received some sort of upgrade/change (prop, LED lights, tower, tower speakers, racks, stereo, etc). Now that I've owned my Supra for a week now I've already added a rack from my old boat to this one and have plans to get the Stargazer Perfect Pass (whenever the funds become available to do so) and to do some tow-vehicle upgrades.

So I agree with you, I'm never done with my boat, nor do I imagine I'll be done with it.

As soon as you think you are done..you will see a new model you just have to have..and then you start all over! that's what makes it so much fun!

Between job, 3 kids, and other pursuits, I'm pretty much done when the boat starts, the PP works, the ballast fills, the fuel is topped off and have a place to hold my wakeboards.

When I get done, and I think it is perfect, then I buy something else.

LED cupholders (upcoming), underwater LEDs (upcoming), bow cover (ordered)...

And I still have more projects, just not enough fundage lol...

I'm never done with mine.... I have to keep fixing things that were piss-poor when it was built, broken things that don't last, or upgrading the piss-poor equipment that came in it.

John, just curious what is wrong with your 24? I just got an '05 and find it's very well built.

I had the 1995 just about done, then bought a new boat in 2005. By 2015 I should be just about done and then it will be time to start over again. I dread starting over again.

Lots of things that I won't litter this thread with, not to mention the poor dealer support and not very good Skier's Choice support.

David that is one GREAT project you took on. Last summer we completely rebuilt a 72 Sleekcraft openbow jet boat for a friend of ours. It was quite a large project to take on, but in the end I was just as proud if not more proud then the owner.

Congrats!

I had a list of things I wanted to do to my boat constantly. Always adding things to the list and never finished. I sold it, and looking to buy new next spring. I will have the same problem with that one....

Thanks!I think it's inherit in guys to make something better (in their own eyes) whether it's adding a sound system or ballast, removing some or adding to the designs on the boat. It's what make us unique!
