Anyone riding "up north" this weekend?
Old     (electricsnow)      Join Date: May 2002       05-25-2007, 7:14 AM Reply
YES!! We actually have a cabin up north, just past mercer (like an hour north of minocqua). I actually went riding up there two weeks ago.

Have fun...for whatever reason, there's nothing like the northwoods (or for me at least).

I like the fact that when we see 1 other boat in our bay, we call that busy.

I won't be there this weekend, but we plan on at least one trip "down south" this summer.

Kevin, no doubt. When I was younger I used to hate that (only because we're in the middle of nowhere) but now I cherish it. Except for the 4th of july and maybe labor day weekend, I'm pretty much the only person who will use the lake for wakeskating (and wakeboarding when I used to do that)--or, just to clarify, others will tube or waterski...nobody else goes wakeboarding or wakeskating yet. The middle of may was full of boats though...because the opening of fishing was the weekend before that, and that's kind of a big deal. :-)

Its true, I have gas money. My fiancee's brother, and another friend of ours are just getting into the sport. We usually ride behind his 16' alumacraft all weekend, but I would love them to see a real wake boat. If you might have room for three just for a run sometime over the weekend, that would be awesome. I do however understand that it is a busy weekend and having three new riders is asking alot.

I'll be up there Late in July and August up on the flowage. Happy to drive anywhere nearby with gas money and beer! That flowage teases me every year, butter all day, stumps, logs and trees everywhere. We just drink, play boccee ball and hang in the water all day, but I'd love ot catch a pull!

I was surprised to see "Minocqua" posted on WW. I spend most of my time on Lake Tomahawk as it is usually more calm and has better bays for butter. We might be heading up there for a weekend with the malibu so if you wanna meet up drop a line.

I live in Minocqua all summer long. Between all my friends we have like 7 boats on 5 different lakes we ride on. I ride in the Min-Aqua Bat shows too, stop by during a show and give me a shout and we'll get out on the lake and ride some butter. Look for us on Lake Minocqua in a bright orange Air Nautique. We're riding almost 7 days a week.

Question for you northerners: Any events going up there that we should know about at Midwestwakeboarder?

Any good local boardshops? Just curious.

midwest,
me and a few friends started a thing we call wakeboard weekend, its in august at a private resort in spring stead WI.. we rent out the resort and you pay a fee that gets you a place to stay, free keg beer all weekend, a t-shirt, and as much riding as we can get in.. last year we had about 70 kids out there and 2 boats, we threw a double up comp the last night and the winners got to drink for free in the bar that night.. We get some bands and this year plan to have a slider comp with some pools and other fun things to do on the beach all day, its more of a hang out then a comp but deff alot of fun.. if your looking for more info get back at me..

We should move this conversation over the MWW on the wisco page... you could probally double the size of your event!

Trimner we need to session for sure.. I'm goin back down to Milwaukee this weekend for a few days though but ill be back next wednesday. I gotta get over to Park Falls sometime and throw down, gimme a call let me know whats up.

Just so you all know Wakeboard Weekend that Chris started is the funnest weekend I have all summer. The atmosphere is so relaxed and laid back, there is plenty of booze, and there were a ton of chicas running around all weekend long. What more could you need?? The slider comp is gonna be the sh*t for sure.

tyler,
no age requirement we just ask no young kids, not really the family atmosphere, wrist bands are given out to drink in the bar.. it's pretty much all college kids getting drunk and having a good time
