So I'm thinking about getting rid of my Supra,21V because it simply is not the best surfing hull. As I'm getting a bit older (31) I find myself gravitating to surfing more than wake boarding.

The boats I'm really considering are:

Moomba Mojo (I gravitate towards Skiers choice for some reason) I know this boat is unproven at this point, but I'm interested.

MB tomcat 21 - is this boat as good as some make it out to be?

Tige RZ2 - this is quite a bit more expensive and I'm not opposed to that, I just don't need all the bells and whistles, so saving $ is a plus if possible.

Honestly I think I want the MB, just want to verify that this boat will be a good boat to ride for many years.

Others I should consider?

PS I ride goofy.

I have ridden both the MB F21 and the RZ2. They both can get huge with 1000lbs in the corner. I don't think you can go wrong with either of them if wake is the only concern.

I have only seen the protoype Mojo on the water and only the wakeboard wake on it.

I havent ridden behind the Mojo, but I have ridden behind a 21 Tomcat and RZ2 a lot. The wakes on the Tomcat and RZ2 are really good, but RZ2 is better imo. But The Z3 has a better wake than the RZ2. The Z3 is way more adjustable, where the RZ2 is always on the steep side. Also, the Z3 is a little less expensive than the RZ2. Ive just fallen in love with the Z3 wake.

Since you stated you would be willing to buy an RZ2, which is $80K new or $60K used, boats I would add to your list:
Centurion Avalanche (22ft at 100" wide)
Centurion Enzo 211/233
Supreme 226
Sanger 215/237
Bu VLX/LSV 23
Tige 22/24 Ve

I just got the 237 LTZ surf edition and I love it. The amount of room is great for inviting big groups. Lots of power and the tabs allow you to dial in the wake. Good luck as shopping is a bunch of fun.

You can also consider MC x15/30 maybe, and SAE 210

If he's looking for a boat with a decent surf wave, he should steer clear of the MC X15. Even with bags in the lockers and all over the inside of the boat the wake is weak, at best.

you need a deep v period. anything else will leave you with bags all over the place and short tall, or week long wave. the rz2, z3, enzo 23, 24, 233 ,244 and new 211, sanger 237, the mb 21, 23 , bu 247 (lots of weight but killer) avy rocks for the size and money (also a great goofy wave) supreme v226, i am sure there are some others, but these are the boats that most gravitate to for surfing. i was in the same place as you are 37 9 knees surgerys and i cannot have anymore, so i had to stop wakeboarding and now only surf, i was a bu guy then jumped onto centurion, had an 09 ezno and now a new 244. i love there boats. i am NE so there are no MB dealers, but i am sure the new f24 is killer with some weight. if you really plan on not wakeboarding, get the best wave you can get, just about any v drive will make a great wakeboarding wake. good luck

For MC, though I have not ridden the 30, the X25 would be your play here. It's wakeboard wake is a beaut too. The Enzos are great surf boats as well. I love my 210 but spend lots of time in the X25 and deem it a bit better IMO for surf.

I would order a Enzo with RH prop rotation, will give you the best Goofy wake out there.

You can get a pre-owned Avalanche for 30K-40K depending on year, puts out a perfect tournament style wake IMO! if you can get over having the water run above the rub rail, this is the best budget wave out there! Unless your buying new, then a Enzo 240 or a brand new Avalanche.

Avy's have mirror image waves on both sides, not too many boats can claim to do this!

So are you saying I wouldn't have to do a reverse rotation set-up on a Avalanche c4 as a goofy rider?

What should I expect a new c4 to run me?
How about a new enzo211?
What about that MB tomcat 21? I've heard about $60K does that sound like a fair price?

yes the avy has a goofy wave pretty much identical to the port side. Do you surf goofy. does your crew? I think you can get a great goofy surf from all of the boats, some maybe alittle better, but the new avy already comes with a reverse rotation setup. not sure about the sv211, prob not. the sv211 is a short 23 hull. My new 244 has a killer goofy wake, now my 09 enzo 23 was not quiet as good, but i think the new layout of the the 211 233 and 244 have resolved some of that with the forward layout. maybe thats just my take, but we saw a major difference with the new boat. good luck they are all killer surf boats.

Whats the best 21' surf boat for the money. I have a length limit on my lake "must be shorter than 21"

Jess, best for your $? Plenty of people will say the MBs fit this bill the best. They don't have a lot of the bells and whistles but I simply don't need those things. Mainly talking about touch screen control panel. But as best as I can tell the finish out is as good as anyone. Better than my '08 Supra for sure. The vinyl is great. The gel coat has the logos laid into it. Etc. it truly seems to be a great boat. Minus a lot of bling

I wish we had mb. It's nice to hav options. The new f24 looks killer. I like to have as much space as possible so I lean towards bigger boats. If I was buying a 21 or 22. It would be a 211 Enzo v226 or an rz2

So that F21 Tomcat throws a good surf wake? Or is the B52 better?
Old     (suprafly08)      Join Date: Dec 2008       06-04-2012, 6:08 PM Reply
It's my understanding that the f21 throws a better surf wake than the b-52. I prefer the looks of the b-52 personally so if I'm wrong someone please clarify so I don't regret the f21

My understanding was both MB 21' boats had 95% the same running surface and they the wakes were the same.

I had a 2007 Tigé 22VE and now have a 2011 RZ2. Both have great surf wakes on both sides.I'm new to surfing[learned late last year].Now i surf regular and my normal Goofy.I'm working on being able to surf heel side on both sides. They are both easy boats to make a wave on either side.I have surfed a Z3 also and it too has a awesome wake on both sides, but as mentioned above it's more adjustable.

60 is a fair price for a MB 21' boat either the Tomcat or Widebody. If you don't have a dealer around you call around. I did that about 6 weeks ago. Talked to the guys in Orlando, Texas, Utah and Alabama. I bought the 21' Widebody (pictures on New Toy Thread). You will love the wave it creates just stock. I am sure adding to her makes it just amazing but even stock is very good out of the box. I love mine!
