i was wakeboading last saturday and i was edgeing out toeside and all of the sudden, my knee gave out. it popped and i fell back and straitened out my knee. i think it is tendonitis and i was wondering about how long do i have to wait before i can get back out on the water?

I dont know if that is tendonitis, but what i do know is that it doesn't go away. I havae it in my elbow. It comes and goes depending on how hard you use that part of your body. (elbow for me) It just flairs up and hurts! I take motrin either before or during activities that i know are going to flair up my elbow.

Tendonitis will go away away with rest. tendonitis is inflamation of the tendon, eight weeks total rest and you should be OK. I'll agree with Crowe, it doesn't sound like you have it though...

what is it then? is it just strained or what? i really dont know much about any kind of knee stuff or anything about being hurt. the only things i have done was i bursted a bursa sac and thats pretty much it. i can get around ok, but usually i am wearing an ace bandage type thing(like a soft knee brace type thing and its really small). it makes it a lot easier to get around.

Did you have alot of swelling after and does your knee feel unstable when walking/running or changing direction? If so, you may have torn your ACL. The surgery sucks!!! Good luck what ever it is

Go get checked by your doctor. I had a big crash almost 4 weeks ago and strained my MCL. I've been in physio since then, and last week discovered I've also also got tendonitis in the knee now too. The tendonitis is nothing compared to the MCL damage. When the doc was checking me out, they were worried that I had damaged the meniscus. Don't guess at what's wrong - knee problems are serious. As I said, I've been in physio for almost 4 weeks and I'm still not ready to ride yet.
