Article says that Lake Powell is going to rise 50 feet and that will allow the shortcut trough Castle Rock into Warm Creek Bay, and thus bypassing the Narrows!!!!!!!!

I thought they're going to dredge a canal thru there anyway? Someone posted it on WW a few weeks ago. He didn't say when it would be done though.

They dredged it a few years ago but the water kept dropping so it didn't help back then.

I can't wait for that shortcut to open up again. It saves so much time and GAS!!!!!

ya, my dad told me a while back that the park service was gona make a trench. but i have not spoken with him about it for at least a month. but it looks like it may not matter.

i am just wondering where the BRO stock is going to set up EXACTLY. last year they set up close to where the opening will be when the lake fills. I don't think it will be a good idea to have it in the same place this year considering this. trafic will be heavy in that one little spot, but anywhere else in warm creek should be kool

Jeremy,

We're so stoked that the cut will be open this year! BROstock will still be in Warm Creek but we'll have to move it back a bit from the cut so we get some good water. We will be posting the official location sometime soon... we just need to check the water level out and determine a good spot first. This year is going to be huge... I already know of 16 houseboats confirmed for the event! Monster, Malibu, Alliance, Skull Candy, and of course us at LF will have houseboats, as well as a ton of friends! Last year it was huge and we had 8 houseboats there... it should be all time!
Thanks!
Don W.

Just talked with my pops. he and my mom are up for my graduation.
He told me that two things played into the canceling of the original plan to dredge a trench.
1. some group of people (don't know who) were against it and put up a fit. (the park service had ok'ed it and was ready to go)
2. The expected natural water rise

Now everyone is happy :-) environmentalists and all... or well, environmentalists are at least "happier." Draining the lake would make them happy ;)

I doubt draining the lake would make the evironmentalists happy, but banning all motorized boating would. Let them hug the damn trees and stay away from our lakes.
