We're looking at buying a 1993 Mastercraft Prostar, what's the wake like? It says the seating capacity is 9 persons even though it has a closed bow, can you really get 9 in there? Any opinions would be helpful.

1993 prostar..what model? if its closed bow i assume its a 190, which is a tournament SLALOM boat, if you're looking for wake..i would try another boat..

9- no way - try 5-6 max. If boarding is your MAIN thing- this is the wrong boat. Great Slalom wake though..

I have an '88 Prostar with about 1400 pounds and the wake isn't too bad, especially considering they were built to not leave one. We threw a monster tower on there and it works out pretty well. I don't know how fast you like to ride, but at 22 with some extra weight it is respectable. I think it is pretty steep, but the only other wakes I've ridden are Moomba and Tige DD's. Compared to those, I like mine better. How much is he asking?

PS - As far as seating goes, in my '88 I believe the sticker says five, and it gets crowded with more than six.

Yeah.... I'd keep looking. Maybe try a closed bow Sanger, or the holy grail of old wakeboats, the Nautique 2001.

Adam,

Like others have stated, if you primarily wakeboard then a prostar 190 is not your best choice. Look for a v-drive such as the MC 205V, original X-Star or X-2 (all the same hull). Depending on your budget, you should be able to find one of these to fit your needs. Also the Maristar 200VRS, 210VRS, 225VRS and 230VRS are all great V-drives from MC.

Good luck, boat shopping if fun!

adam i had a 95 prostar and the boat was great. youre not gonna fit more than 3-4 in the boat. youll need to remove the rear seat for ballast and throw a sac under the bow but the boat throws a great wake. if you dont need a ton of room take a close look at the prostar. you wont be disappointed.

the 88 and 95 are different hulls. the 93 is thought to have the best slalom wake mc ever made. so probably not going to be a very good wakeboard wake. awesome boat however i had one.
