i have a panasonic pv-gs50 and i've used a pv-gs120... they both produce a good enough picture for consumer level camcorders, but the zoom on the cameras is horrible. if you zoom past 2x it gets extremely shaky. i imagine the gs400 is probably the same... but im not sure, you would have to try it out before you drop the cash. the EIS is the biggest piece of crap too. i guess what im trying to say is that shooting wakeboarding you need to use a 2x telephoto lens on the consumer cameras and not zoom more than 2x... unless you are shooting from a tube or on tripod, then the camera is golden! i've used sony cameras with 10x zoom as well and they really hold up when it comes to zooming. try before you buy thats all i reccomend. good luck
