I can already see it....newb buys advanced board b/c WW posters suggested it. Then, 6mo later, comes back for help with his riding and gets flamed b/c he's riding a parks and can't go w2w. Mark, since you are new to the sport, the best thing for you to do is visit the local board shop and demo as many setups as you can. You need to figure out your riding style and find a board that suits it. Try to demo boards with different rocker types (continuous, 3-stage or hybrid), different fin setups and different lengths. All the above will be big factors in how the board feels on the water. Only you will know what feels right to you. I think bindings are more price driven, since you can spend $100 or $400. Pick 3-4 that are w/in your budget and try each on. Buy the pair thats the most comfortable and supportive on YOUR foot.
