Anybody gonna be riding in Wake Games this year, or have before? I'm wanting to make the trek down to compete this year in Mens I. (It will be my first time at wake games) Anybody know how to go about registering?

I'm thinking about going down as a wakeskater, but this is cutting it close to Prom, Graduation, Weddings, and a Rail Jam I'm riding in, so I'm still not sure...

We always go to watch and ride the park. Its a killer time even if you don't ride in the contest.

Thanks Chris! Do you know when the deadline to register is?

A big group from Kentucky is heading down. My daughter will be riding in girls.

Normally 2 weeks before. After that you can still register but there is a penalty. Last year it was $150 to enter with a $75 late fee.

I believe it's an $85 late fee. Go to www.kingofwake.com to sign up.

Is this good for the sport? Who is being stubborn? Wake Games, PanAm/ BoardUp the same weekend. Can't one of them change their date? Where's the outcry from the Riders/ Sponsors/ public on this? Ridiculous.

Maybe because wakeboarders don't really care about USA Waterski sanctioned events? Surely that's evident in the turn out they get for the Nationals. Why do we need two governing bodies for wakeboarding anyway?

HH99 the event that matters to the riders is wake games. Board up is cool but if they want to be stubborn and not change their date, they are only hurting themselves

So it makes no difference that BoardUp was scheduled 2 months before WakeGames. It shouldn't be about who is sanctioning the events, but that there are actually events to showcase the sport, and Riders/ Sponsors to make some money.

Board up did tell world pub in advance but the wakegames was scheduled anyway. I would not count out pro riders choosing board up if the purse is decent. There is not any payout after 5th at wake games so why not go down and earn a few grand.

Why 2 sanctioning bodies? Who knows but it does give 2 or 3 riders more earning opportunity. I personally would like to see all the money combined and payout more than 5 guys.

Because of K & Q of Wake maybe?

I might ride in Masters if my knee is better!

Only the top 10 really care about KOW that much. Most would take a couple of grand in their pocket than number 17 .. Especially established riders.

Roger, sponsors also have a say in which one you ride in.

Randy, ding ding ding!! Wake games is the first stop of KOW and you can damn well bet that the sponsors are having their guys at this event, which will pick up coverage on fuel tv.

I didn't say there would be a mass exodus of pros. I am saying there are guys who ride the tour and some other pros that don't that could opt to go to board up. All the Nautique guys will obviously be at Wake Games. How about the Ausies. Several of them didn't even ride in Games last year. How about someone like Greenwood or Lyman. If your trying to establish yourself you need to be there.

I don't think sponsors aren't that involved with the guys who are not top 16. I know Liquid Force could care less.

So not true, they want their riders wherever they see best, no matter what rank you are. That's why injured pro's are still seen everywhere.

I see where Miami Ski Nautique sponsors board up and wake games is nautique. That makes no sense. I didn't know Shapiro was Canadian. He is riding in Board Up. Only 2 riders have signed up but it's early.

It's a competitive world, especially this year. Strategic and smart move for WWA. Unfortunately it's not what is best for the sport.

Not sure how I follow " Strategic and smart move for WWA"? If 10 riders sign up for Board Up isn't that potentially 10 riders entry fees not going to WWA?

The WWA doesn't really have anything to do with it, more like World Sports and Marketing.

The WWA has nothing to do with it- Adam is right, World Pub puts out the schedule but they are careful not to interfere with any World Cup of IWSF or WWA World Series events of which World Pub only has 2- Nationals and Worlds.

It may be a power play on World Pub to kill Board Up. Not a bad business decision because you don't want more events competing for sponsorship dollars that are very hard to come by.
