I'm looking at buying a newer boat to replace my 1997 Aztec Coyote. I'd love to see some pictures of different wakes behind various boats if any of you have any. I'm looking at an older Correct Craft Air Nautique (1998-2001), Malibu VLX (1996-2001), Moomba Outback V.

I ride behind a Session Si. I never tried an other wakeboard boat but I think it makes a big wake and it's suppose to be, because we read a lot before buying and the comments where good!!! I'm gonna try to bring you some pics!!!!

Moombas are not junk. I would bet that our Mobius LSV wake is as tall as anyone elses...just needs alot of shaping.

Todd,
What level rider are you? If you are a novice/intermediate then an LSV is perfect...if you're thinking about gas...then the LSV also has a nice wake without ballast.

I own a Nautique these days, used to own a Moomba. Anyone who says Moomba is junk is ill informed.

2000 Moomba Mob-V wake, very similar to the outback V. I owned mine for five years, and put 700hrs on it. This is 22.5 at 75ft with 2k in it. Excuse my riding skills.

Upload

I owned mine for five years, and put 700hrs on it. It ran like a champ through rain, snow, sleet, and even sunshine right up to the day I sold it.

I am an intermediate rider. I do just fine, but can't do the big tricks--yet!

I am getting rid of the Aztec because its a closed bow and we often have more than 6 people who want to ride along. I'm happy to send you some pics if you want to see it. Otherwise, its a great boat, same engine as a Nautique and throws a big wake when full with people. With just two people, the skiiers are happy too.

My cousin has a Moomba Outback and its a great boat.

Todd,

depending on your price range, 2007 Mobius LSV is one of your best bets if you're buying new. We got ours with everything we wanted(except swivel racks) for $39,850. If you're buying used...I hear good things about 2001-2004 SAN.

Moomba::Supra
Toyota::Lexus I think. Don't mark my words.

If you rag on Moomba, then you might as well be ragging on Supra because they are both made by Skier's Choice.

I've seen a 2007 LSV wake(1150lbs) side by side
with a 2002 Xstar wake(1350lbs) and the LSV was
definetly bigger. With the wake plate and some
extra ballast in the front, the LSV throws a bad
a$$ wake.

You should be posting pictures of both wakes, not just one. It's hard to tell how big it actually is or what the other side looks like with only one side of the wake.

Hey, i heard a bayliner remark! Thats what were riding behind. My buddy bought a new house, and the wakeboard boat had to go. Now were riding behind a bayliner with a tower, new speakers, 1500 lbs of ballast in the thing and it rocks. I'm going bigger and landing more tricks than i was on the other boat. I resent anti-bayliner remarks. I'm not one to trash another boat company, Tige, Mastercraft, SAN, Sanger, Calabria, MBSport, Gekko, Epic, Supra:Moomba, Malibu, just because i ride something else. If it throws ANY bit of a wake, and i'm fortunate enough to be able to ride behind it, i'm stoked. Just my 2 cents

Yeah Ben...gotta ignore Ryan...I don't know if I've seen one post of his that I agree with. I have a Moomba and love it. It gets me on the water where my stress dissipates, I've taught 20+ people how to wakeboard behind it, and I've pulled kids on tubes (yes, I know) until their faces were going to break from smiling too much. Anyone who tries to tell me that my boat is a piece doesn't know why I bought a boat...not to impress people, but to have fun on the water.
Old     (hawkeye7708)      Join Date: Feb 2007       08-23-2007, 10:57 AM Reply
Agree with ya 100% on that one Loren. Thats what its all about. My buddy has the Moomba XLV, we filled up 2,500 lbs of ballast and loaded 10 people into that thing...That was a day. And it seems to get plenty of looks cruising the lake too haha.
Old     (psudy)      Join Date: Dec 2003       08-23-2007, 11:43 AM Reply
John, my remark was directed at ryan, and ryan alone. I was not ragging on anyones boat. To come on here and tell someone his Moomba is crap when he is riding behind a 13 year old ski boat(or any boat for that matter) is juvenile to say the least.

In my experience the Moombas are awesome. The XLV throws an incredible wake. The only thing where Moomba is lacking is the bling factor, it has the construction and powerplant of a much more expensive boat. If you don't mind a little cheaper interior and not as many gauges then the Moomba is where its at. Its a whole lot of boat for the price. Ryan I am surprised you are 25, you post like a child. People have their reasons for what they do & they don't concern you. Bashing is lame, thus you are lame. Furthermore, ask any pro what he thinks of the XLV wake. They all like it, why not you?

J-Rod, do you still have the big-block motor in the new x-star? I know Eddy wished he'd order one for his due to the lenght of the lakes that we ride on. The other prop works, it still get's on a plane in a decent distance. Anyways, hope your riding a lot and talk to you soon!

Hey guys..... Those pics are from the original BC. The new wake gets just as mackin', but needs a few more peeps or lbs to make up for the lighter motor. The amazing part is that it isn't that much weight (it is mostly real #'s though becuase the majority of it's lead). We've written it up before, but here it is again.

600 ish on top of the stock ballast on each side of the motor (550 sack and 65 lb lead block). 110 lbs of moveable lead to ballast out side-to-side in the interior. 600 lbs of lead (300 on each side) under the front seats. Stock center ballast.

It more than gets the job done. Last night it was just Billy and I riding, so we were down a bit of weight from normal. The wake was still huge. When you charge it you get absolutely booted. Love it. Honestly (sounds totally cliche), it's the only boat I really want to ride behind these days and pretty much the only boat I'd own right now. I'm sure I'll get bagged for that, but the wake, rough water ride and size are soo sick. Anyway, enough of my ranting....

Craig: the new boat has the 6.0 in it. Great motor for the most part. Definitely an improvement over the MCX. It'd probably work fine on your lake. The 8.1 is rediculous though. You know what they say.... You can never have too much power. That boat got on plane with zero ballast or with 4k of weight and 12 people. It just wasn't phazed.

i cant believe that people still actually believe boat stereotypes. all of the inboard boat companys make sick boats. also, ryan, of course a good rider doesnt need a big wake, but isnt it cooler going big? and doesnt a big wake help you do that?
Old     (bbking)      Join Date: Dec 2006       08-27-2007, 5:24 PM Reply
a big wake definately helps... i have a friend who rides behind a malibu wakesetter and can jump as high as me, only difference is he has the ballast tanks and the tower, while i have my i/o that makes a decent wake due to the weight (nothing like a wakeboats), but very wide due to the fact my boat is wide... although it has forced me to focus on my form so when i do ride behind a wakeboarding boat i'll be going biig, but it is a nuisance that i have to go 24 to clear the wake without have to push it or the fact that when i would be landing 4 feet into the flats behind a wakeboarding boat... i'm casing my wake

i'm sorry for the rant, but its not cool having all your friends have perfect wakes and your stuck with the bad one..............

Usually I put another thousand pounds in it, and the wake turns incredible!!!!

Plus its a diesel, so when taking off, I can't even tell how much weight is in it!! Accelerates the same no matter what!! I love this boat!!!

P.S. These pictures are really bad, but I will try and get some good ones soon!!

We have an '05 LSV with 1400lbs ballast. Planning on adding another fat sac next year. We like the wakeplate feature. It helps produce a cleaner wake with a smoother ride. Our Mobius does all that we need with room to grow.

We have heard a lot of good things about the new moombas. Check out the moomba.com message board. Lots of good info there.

We have been very please with ours.

Good Luck!

They are a few years old but I still like em so I had no need to upgrade, but might do so next spring for a change.

Thanks for the kind words. I would love to have a WB boat with a killer wake but this is all I have to work with now, and I really enjoy boarding so rather than give it up I just make the most out of it!

Thanks for the pictures guys. Still waiting to see a picture of the wake behind an Air Nautique direct drive with factory ballast.
