aAcme 1235 Prop

I have heard that this is the best for loaded Wakesetter VLX's. Was just wondering where it would be best to buy it from - on the internet as it has to be shipped to New Zealand.

Hey guys. Can anyone give me an accurate description of how many RPMs the 1235 adds over the 537? I upgraded to the 537 last season and I am usually taching around 3300 rpms fully weighted around my riding speed. I am afraid of going any more aggressive since I will be taching even more rpms.

I didn't notice much of an increase on our '06 vlx heavily loaded. I did notice more hole shot and less high siding in the corners! You will lose several MPH off of your top speed, but unless you do footing I can't imagine it mattering much. If our RPMs increased, which people said they would, it was very minimal! I wouldn't trade in my 1235.

468 great hole shot, will hit rev limiter vary easy and loose a lot on the top end. But if you're loading up the boat well beyond the stock ballast this might be a better choice.

1235 less hole shot (but still great) will loose less on the top end and may hit the rev limiter.

475 Same hole shot as the 1235 but will have even less loss on the top end.

Malidude, can you break it down in terms of a lineup of most aggressive to least aggressive?

Something like stock, 537, 475, 1235, 468?

Not a Malibu...but we replaced the stock 13.5x17 prop on 2000 Mastercraft X-30 with the OJ 1235 and the hole shot was more than cut in half and the RPMs went from 3600 to 3900. We run about 3300 lbs. plus people at 23-24 mph. That small hike in the RPM is totally worth it to me. Plus if you factor the extra time at full throttle to allow the boat to plane with the old prop, the engine probably likes running a little higher more consistantly with the new one than full out for so long with the old. Never had a chance to test any other props but with the high amount of weight we run, and considering we don't foot too often, I figured the 1235 was the best choice for me and I couldn't be happier with it. The 537 is the jack of all trades, doesn't nothing great but nothing terribly bad either. This is the stock prop on the VLX, so it's middle of the road so to speak. It's not a great prop out of the hole but gives you the top speed. I suspect this is used to produce the mph #'s for reviews etc.

The reason that I put the 1235 above the 475 is because we've found it to shave a few more mph off the top end as opposed to the 475.

I've got the 537 stock on my new VLX but I'll be switching it to the 475. Keep in mind this testing was done at less than 1,000' feet in elevation.

Both the 475/1235 will be a big improvement over the stock prop.
