1. Remove the dipstick
2. Place tube from suction pump all the way to the bottom of the case
3. Pump until all fluid is removed
4. Replace fluid with new ATF up to full mark on dipstick.

If there was water in the fluid it make one or two more changes before all the foam is gone.

The dipstick isn't always accurate on the trailer - the boat needs to be in the water. I suppose you could check the level on the water to make sure it's right, and then scratch your own "full on trailer" line on the dipstick if it's different. You can also just measure the amount you pumped out and replace that much.

When I got water in my transmission (friend swamped the boat-long story) the dipstick method didn't do a good enough flush. So if your just changing the fluid for fresher fluid use the dipstick, if its been contaminated: I finally had to pull off the cooling unit and drain the fluid from there, also be sure to blow the fluid out of the cooling can at the same time.
