...is WAY different now! rode the backwater w/ hahn, jesson and gretchen today and all i could say is WOW! that wake was meaty! in the past, it wasn't my favorite wake, not because it wasn't big but just 'cause it was so rampy and the transition was so long. but today, the wake was HUGE, steep and solid! thanks for the pulls jesson...or should i say gretchen! great driving, great riding, great water and most of all, great company! let's ride again soon!

Sweet thats not to bad in the scheme of things. They throw a nice thick wake but drink gas like no bodies business. (Message edited by ralph on August 22, 2009)

Hey Joe! Thanks for hanging out this afternoon. It was fun for sure. Glad you liked the wake. As far as the weight, we have more around 4KLbs+. The only thing is that today the stock ballasts were empty ( 1000 Lbs) oops... so all we had today is the 2 fly high X-star kit in the back (1500 Lbs)and in the front (800 lbs) and about an additional 1000 lbs throught the boat with led bags. Don't forget we had Hahn on the boat as well... Most of the weight is in the center of the boat and down to the back. The front is loaded enough to still get on plane and not be bouncy while riding... The wake is great for sure when it's kind of peaky but still rampy and clean. Love this wake for sure.

Gas isn't all that bad on our boat I think compare to some of the X-stars I had in the previous years. We have a good prop and in my opinion the best engine for this much weight. We have the LY6. It's not like we don't burn gas but for what we get out of this boat as far as wake, it is the price to pay I guess. I think that when you put 4000+ Lbs in a boat, gas will go faster for sure...I have an X-Star in Tahiti as well and gas out there is about $9 per gallon... Painful...

Joe- I wasn't too big on the Xstar wake either til I started riding the CIE boat a few years back. Super huge, consistent, poppy and smooth at the same time...it's just like riding a perfectlty built snowboard jump every hit, I love it!

Yea the X-star wake is dope no questions there but if you put that same amount of weight in a X-15 well now there is a Real Big Wake!

I gotta back Joe up on this one --- if you have a chance to get up and ride with Jesson and Gretchen I would take full advantage and scoot your butt up the hill. Jesson - what's been going on dude. This is Josh - with the black and red X2. Hope all is well - Tell Gretchen hello.

I rode an X-Star two days ago and I do have to admit, it is suuuch a fun wake. Stock ballast and full of people. Very smooth and the wakes so big that it really gives you time to feel the takeoff when you're riding up it, and thus a more consistent takeoff. It's a smooth big boot rather than a quick, faster-timed snappy pop. I'm drooling just thinking about it right now. I had an X-15 a year ago and the wake was normally great, but the X-Star feels literally almost twice the size sometimes. It's certainly steeper. Is the X-15 wake really as comparable when weighted well?

The X-15 is pretty nice But like all good wake boats needs some weight to get the wake nice and poppy! Its one of my fav wakes!

for sure dude, just rode behind mine again tonight..nothing better. I run with 1,000 in the rear, 350 up front, plus stock ballast, so around 2300-2500lbs. When you add another thousand it gets HUGE and just lippy enough for those steep wake lovers.

I was just talking to my buddy about this... how long do you think this hull will stay around? I said I bet a deck redesign would come before they mess with the hull, but that isn't really necessary either IMO.

Hmm not sure. It's getting pretty old. IMO there isn't much reason to mess with the hull, but I would like to see something along the lines of a plate to help get it on plane quicker. Part of the reason the wake is soo good is because it sits really deep and pushes a lot of water. That also makes it get really bad fuel economy when it's fully loaded. I think a plate would get it on plane faster, which would be killer.

A little birdie told me that MC was planning on a redesign for 2010 (or maybe had it done) but cancelled (or delayed?) because of the slowdown in the boat business -- they were more focused on survival and couldn't make that investment right now. Obviously my info is imprecise and I don't know if the "redesign" included the hull or just the deck.
