Wetsuits vs drysuits

I have a drysuit. I love it. 37 degree water this year, worked AMAZING. was totally toasty. You can use a drysuit in just about water temperature where a wetsuit you definitely would wanna consider just HOW cold the water is. IMO

John, i live in MN too. I underestimated drysuits for years!! I was loaned one for a cold day (46f air and lower temp water) and i was sold! Went out and bought one a couple of days after. If you take care of it, it will be a one time investment. Go from drysuits to no suits, no more wetsuits ever. Get a baggy one like the bare, barefoot international, or the oneill boost and like us, you can wear sweats and a sweatshirt underneath.

Drysuits are obviously water repellent and wind resistant which is key in this cold weather! Not actually getting wet means not being frigidly cold when its 50-65 out and you stay toasty. Trust me, invest in one and you WILL NOT regret it man.

I live in northen MN.
I wear a 3/2 wetsuit from the day the ice goes out. Never really that cold. I found that a hood works amazing also on those cold air days. head warm=body warm.

Dry suit all the way. On the coldest days in a wetsuit, you ride and then its your buddies turn. You freeze driving because you are wet. I don't even wear a wetsuit anymore.

check out OceanRodeo dry suits. they are super light weight and flexible. they are designed specifically for winter surfing in canadian waters, and are awsome for wakeboarding. they've got a front entry zipper, enough room inside for a vest if you want, and have a protective outer lining to keep leaks away. they look like space pajamas but thats cool. got this one from my local wake shop LakeWake.ca

Drysuit.....baggy style so you can wear as much or little as you need depending on the temp...

I can't imagine not having at least a shorty wetsuit too. Not to gross out any youngsters or anything but you can imagine what happens if you have to go #1 in a dry suit.

I'm living in Southern Florida.....what are these wetsuits/drysuits you guys speak of? ha ha ha ha ha Rode all Dec/Jan at Ski Rixen cable park and only used a rash shirt

Another vote for drysuit.
We were out this year while there was still some ice on the lake! We were toasty.
The only problem was very cold hands. I just need to find the right waterproof gloves...

Obviously I don't pee into a dry suit. I've just heard it's occasionally done on chilly days when wearing a wet suit.

we keep a hot cooler of water and soak the gloves in em before we get in the water. get your gear on, then before you hop in, put the gloves on. DOES MIRACLES! then hope you dont get em wet. but it really helped!

O'Neill Psycho 2. 3/2 or 4/3 depending how cold the water is. The nice thing about this is you can pee if you want. Add with O'Neill Psycho gloves. The gloves are amazing, great grip and not a drop of water inside. Add with close toe boots and it feels like summer all day long.

I have a Psycho 4/3, and can attest to it being extremely warm. Also, if you dont crash hard, you don't even get wet in it.

Xcel Suits are amazing - rode the 4/3 Infiniti in the snow and was fine. Buddy of mine had their drylock and said he was sweating.

And these are WETSUITS.
