Which acme/ OJ prop is the 14 x 14.25 everyone uses for their X Star? Is this prop also good for the L18 motor?

We ran a bigger prop on the L18. I think it was a 14.25X15.5

The 14X14.25 would work great on a LY6

Eyekahn - I would call acme props and ask them what prop they recommend. THey know a great deal about these engines and will make a good rec for you. They will ask how much ballast you run and what your expectations are.

Eric at OJ props is very good at letting you know what you need.

i run a 14.75 X 15.5 on my 08 xstar with L18. if you only moderately ballast an L18 you should go with the 14.75 X 17.5. these suggestions came directly from eric johnson at OJ props. still the best thing to do is contact eric and tell him your boat, engine, prop, altitude, transmission, and primary/secondary use for the boat. he will steer you straight and he doesn't care if you buy the prop directly from him or from an OJ dealer. he is terrific to deal with. getting the correct prop is the single biggest improvement you can make to your boat. it changes everything for the better.

I use something small, boats get right out of the water. Prop brought the top speed down but I could care less cause I never go over 25. I would look at the prop but the boat is sitting in the water right now.

We just found out on my buddy,s 09 PWT that a 14.75x15.5 will not work on a MCX with the fly high bags completely filled an 3 people in the boat.It just won,t come out the hole,he,s waiting for his 14x14.25
i have a 14.25 x 14.5 on my LY6 works fine but has a limit of aprox 2500lbs.
