Went for a spin in a 97 super sport nautique got it up to 45 mph and then brought it back down to about 18 then back up to 45 then putsed around 15 mph. Went to give it again and it bogged down and backfired... any idea what could be wrong?!!? It has a 320 hp GT 40 motor. Thanks for your help

Water in the fuel would be my guess.

First time out this year? Make sure you have good gas in there and check the timing. There is a little gray square at the end of 2 wires near the distributor that is a jumper called the SPOUT connector (spark output) Remove that and get a timing light and make sure it is set at 10* TDC. The timing is electronically advanced so it will not work unless you take the spout out of the system.
