Losta style, hell of a nice guy, too. He's been married for a few years now, must be catching up with him. Wishing Rob the best of luck, wherever his path leads.

Ever since he barged-in on Shaun Murray taking a dump in Cocktail I've never been able to look at him the same.

Actually Robby Stru will be in DS2. Have a tiny bit now and he is comingout in a few weeks to finish his section. He got married, had a kid, got a real job- basically liek the rest of us now.

Old     (stephan)      Join Date: Nov 2002       09-10-2005, 7:57 AM Reply
He still rides a CWB I'm not sure which one though. Perhaps a Factor because it was based off his last Prodigy shape. Yep married with children, he rips and I'm glad he was able to make his run in this sport and get out and be successful, this industry i a dog to make it in. Side Note: his wife is WAAAAY hot!! Good job Stru!!

is he working in the industry? what kind of "real" job does he have now?
Old     (stephan)      Join Date: Nov 2002       09-10-2005, 4:41 PM Reply
I believe real estate. That or he took over the family business, which might have been real estate.
Old     (cwb121)      Join Date: Feb 2004       09-11-2005, 1:59 PM Reply
He may ride a CWB but ride for them. His contract was good through 05 season. Team Manager Bill Dolye and Rob did not get along, so Dolye would't write a new contract for 06. Their are very few people at CWB that like him. I love CWB and sell their stuff and have meet Rob and I am SO gland he is gone. The team and pro tour is way better off without him.

so Bruce what's the name of your shop again?
Old     (stephan)      Join Date: Nov 2002       09-11-2005, 5:24 PM Reply
Hmm that's not how I hear it at all. Rob always seemed nice. Just from a small town & not all about the hype. Liked freeriding with his friends and pushing himself. I call shenanigans.

Yeah, shenanigans on Bruce. Robby Stru is one of the most personable riders I have ever met. Have never heard any bad about him from any CWB associates. In fact, you are the first person I have come across to make any kind of negative remarks about Struharik...

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and thats mine. The few times I meet him was just stuck up and didn't talk to anyone when he was signing posters at the Detroit pro tour stop a few years back. Most of his former team mates on CWB will tell you the same thing.

If you spoke to me, they way you spoke in your post, I wouldn't speak to you either.

"The team and pro tour is way better off without him."

I think WW is way better off with you!

Bruce, your way way off. I have hung Rob for more than a month or more many different times. He was the first to help out with stuff that needed to be done. He is way down to earth he helped me and many others with our riding. He wanted to spend more time with his wife and family. So he just took a step back like many riders have done.

So a guy that is perenially hated produces innovative boards through CWB and has his pro model until recently when he decides to take a step away from the scene... Not to mention his innovations in the game with tricks and just going big and looking good all at the same time, like his part in the faction alot...

Number 2, Bruce, learn some grammar there buddy... As manager of a pro shop you aren't going to make it very far if you can't communicate... maybe that's why he didn't talk to you, he couldn't understand what you were saying...

No way that Robby was stuck-up. He is a great guy and very personable. Negativity like that has no place on WW, go post on wb.

I heard that he would not do free photo shoots like many of the riders do and that is why he has not been getting much exposure.

Bruce - you must have met Rob S(some crack head from the south) because Robby Stru is one of the kindest, biggest hearted guy you'll ever meet. Kind of funny that he never rides, shows up to a pro tour takes like 5th or 6th if everybody hates him. If CWB hates him, why does he have a crap load of signature boards and he has never been a major player in the tour scene? I have known him for a long time and always been true. Check your self Bruce!

Bruce,

Even if it is true or your experience with him was bad, I would use a little wisdom in throwing out the negative vibe when you work in the industry. The industry is too small for that to not come back and haunt you.

My experience with Rob was fantastic...he spent tons of time talking to young kids about boards and the designs. I walked away very impressed.

well stated mike. No need to make this an argument, obvious that many people in the industry like the guy.....and imo nobody goes pro without people liking you. Attitude is the half the impression of whether you are marketable or not. my .02

Here's my take: he realized that he needed to get on with his life. Pro wakeboarders do not make a lot of money and you can't be a pro wakeboarder for life. Every year he spent chasing 5k pro tour winning checks is a year he's behind in his career. Also, I think he saw the injuries (like Darin Shapiro's back) and said it's not worth putting the ability to walk on the line for a sport that pays so little.
