Geez, that is sweet. Ronix has the two riders to pull 1080's with proof (assuming that this info isn't bogus). Their new boards should have some '1080' notation on it somewhere.

It's just stating that he landed one. No video, sorry I didn't clarify. Riley didn't seem sure if his sources were correct, so I figured I'd let everyone know it was posted on alliancewake for those who wanted a definate answer.

Oh, it's over on the right hand side where they write their little blogs.

I would have to assume that they have footage if they made the post and they said Danny has joined Parks so it sounds like they have it on tape. Congrats Danny. So whats next?????????

here is what is says on Alliance.

By: Trav Is Alliance
9/6/2006 Danny Harf stuck a switch heelside 1080 just an hour ago, while practicing the photo shoot today. Parks gave the word to Tony and then Tony gave me the word and now we're heading out there to see if he can stab it again.

By: GC
9/6/2006 Well, the wait is over, and Parks has some company now. Danny Harf just landed a switch heelside 1080 minutes ago.

Congrats to Danny, who is also throwing several different 9's off the wake these days. And apologies to Parks, 'cause now he's not the only one with a documented 1080. Maybe you guys can try them regular foot now...

Who's next?

Congrats to Danny. With his ability, it was only a matter of time before he stuck one.

On a side note, from what I've heard and seen the Ronix products will be sick. But How does Danny landing a 1080 show that their products are leading the way. So was FM the leader of the crop back in the day because Parks landed his on their board.

lighten up....it was just a comment. the stuff is killer, and Danny is an unbelievable rider. Your board only looks as good as you make it look anyway.
Old     (deuce)      Join Date: Mar 2002       09-06-2006, 3:05 PM Reply
They will have it on film and it will prove that it has been to date impossible to land a 1080(other than word of mouth) on any board but Ronix. I will assume that as soon as others start strapping Ronix boards to their feet, the 1080 will become commonplace....almost like doing a 360. They are going to revolutionize the sport that much.

Get board and binding package and you're likely to land a flats 1440 off a random roller.
Old     (magellan)      Join Date: Feb 2003       09-06-2006, 3:11 PM Reply
Exactly.
Too bad Mark Kenney didn't have a Ronix. The nine 1080's he made would have been far cleaner. He was stuck with an old Belmont and the original Absolute.

Awesome job Danny.

DID HE DO IT OFF A DUB OR OFF THE WAKE, the "rainy day" footage on Alliance makes it look like he could probably do it off the wake.

If Greenwood was following on the same line, wouldn't that mean he threw it off the wake instead of the D-up?

At Wakestock, he was trying them off the D-up too, though.

congrats regardless

let them edit it...im sure they will hype it up and have all the sponsers in there, cause people will watch this for years...im sure someone at ronix is working on it right now

I was kinda hoping to turn on SportsCenter this morning and see it on ESPN. If I was Danny I would think about using this as an opportunity to get RONIX on the nationwide map. He has contacts at ESPN because of all his X-Games wins, and sad to say, SportsCenter has a much wider audience than Wakeworld.
Old     (uppledup17)      Join Date: Sep 2005       09-07-2006, 6:39 AM Reply
Unfortunately Loren if ESPN is no longer willing to have Wakeboarding at the X-games, I don't think they would show this on their most widely viewed show. It would be great for the sport in general if they did though.

if they show highlights of the national hot dog eating comp you think they can show a 1080! But man o man can that little bastard eat!
Old     (harryhog)      Join Date: Mar 2003       09-07-2006, 7:13 AM Reply
adkinson said he's got it thro his debut filmin footage! we'll see it soon enough...

as for ronix, it'll definately help having the 1080 landed on it, not cause it'll make a better board, but this sport definately works alot on branding & looks, otherwise why would people wear boardies rather than skimpies!

Can't believe its finally done, nice one danny!

switch heels! sweet, but parks switch toes must've been pretty tough too!

Chase, for some reason, people spin better switch. I am not sure why, though im sure someone can explain it.
Old     (jcv)      Join Date: Oct 2005       09-07-2006, 8:39 AM Reply
both parks and danny are right-handed (although they ride goofy). most right-handed people spin better counter-clockwise; lefties spin better clockwise. and, it helps to be able to pull the handle with your strong hand.

i have a right-handed, goofy-footer friend who comes closer on switch 7's than he does on most of his regular 3's. he's real close to a regular bs 5 though

Wait Jeff, your saying you have a friend trying switch sevens and BS fives, but he can't do a front side three. Hmmm, that's an interesting way to progress.

Doesn't suprise me in the least that Danny stomped it. He's got more talent in his little finger than most riders have in their whole bodies. I still think the trick is lame. I'd rather watch a double grabbed seven anyday.
Old     (jcv)      Join Date: Oct 2005       09-07-2006, 9:59 AM Reply
he can do a reg. hs fs 3...but inconsistently. he's got switch hs fs 3's, switch hs fs 5's, and reg. hs bs 3's dialed though. he doesn't really care that he can't spin regular fs hs the greatest because his switch pop is as almost as good as regular. he doesn't have nearly as much trouble spinning regular ts fs though for some reason

Haha jeff totally understood when i heard he had done it switch i havent done more than 10 heel frontside threes because i just dont try em they are really uncomfortable but i can do backside fives and switch heel sevens. It is really comfortable spinning for me counter clockwise no matter which side i take off from. It makes sense to me why they do them switch
Old     (jcv)      Join Date: Oct 2005       09-07-2006, 10:03 AM Reply
kevin, just to test my theory, are you a right-handed, goofy-footed rider?
Old     (magellan)      Join Date: Feb 2003       09-07-2006, 10:11 AM Reply
Agree 100% Evan. Amazing trick...like Parks' Dbl Cab Mobe but would rather see Lyman do his slob heel five twenty feet into the flats.
Old     (jcv)      Join Date: Oct 2005       09-07-2006, 10:18 AM Reply
go watch ben greenwood if you want to see a grabbed 7. he's on every single episode of pull ever made, so you'll be able to see enough grabbed 7's to almost be sick of them (i didn't think it was possible, but i think i've reached that point). i agree the 1080 may not look the most aesthetically pleasing but it's always cool when someone lands something that only 1 or 2 other people can do; like parks' double half cab mobe (which may be the most insane thing ever done on a wakeboard) or sean o'brien's kgb 5 or a josh palma big johnson. i'm still waiting for a hsbs 9 with a blind landing, a ts bs 7, and a bs 5 on a skate
Old     (anicopo)      Join Date: Sep 2006       09-07-2006, 1:09 PM Reply

Old     (jcv)      Join Date: Oct 2005       09-07-2006, 1:22 PM Reply
it's an overhead crow mobe 720. just an extension of the big wurm, basically a toeside whirly. i've never actually seen video of palma landing it, but someone said he has, and someone had to have landed it for it to have a name
Old     (jcv)      Join Date: Oct 2005       09-07-2006, 1:23 PM Reply
sean o'brien has come close as well
Old     (wakeeater2003)      Join Date: Mar 2004       09-07-2006, 1:26 PM Reply
Brandon Johnson landed it only a couple of times. It is named after him. I have done big worms for probably five years now and I have thought about a big johnson but the force you are coming down from on that trick is crazy. Maybe I will give it a try now that I have my crow mobes down.
If anyone has any video of a johnson I would like to see it. BCP Mike

Old     (bizzuck)      Join Date: Nov 2005       09-07-2006, 7:12 PM Reply
Jeff,

Harf spins both ways. He's not a clockwise or counter-clockwise spinner. He does switch and regular hs and ts frontside 9's. There is a video on alliance of him going reg toe 9, switch toe 9, back to back.
Old     (jcv)      Join Date: Oct 2005       09-07-2006, 7:21 PM Reply
i never said he couldn't spin clockwise. just because he can spin both ways doesn't mean he doesn't have a preferred way. i garuntee he feels more comfortable spinning switch fs and regular bs, he just has enough talent to do do pretty much whatever the hell he wants. if he didn't feel more comfortable spinning switch, then there's no point in trying your first 10 switch. why would you want a little less pop and a harder landing if there was no spinning benefit? everyone has a preferred way to spin, even if it's only a slight difference

i think it's funny that you "garuntee" how someone else "feels" about spinning. do you have a crystal ball?
Old     (jcv)      Join Date: Oct 2005       09-07-2006, 8:07 PM Reply
i'd bet pretty much every dime i have. it's not all that hard to figure out. like i said, i've known about a half-dozen decent (by decent i mean their switch pop is on par with their regular) right-handed goofy-foot riders, and they all liked to spin switch frontside and regular backside. and i know harf is a righty. (parks, rusty, and i believe philip and shane are also righties riding goofy who seem to almost prefer spinning switch.) i'm not pretending to be a genious and saying this always holds true, but, for the most part nearly every lefty prefers spinning clockwise and righties go counter. i've been playing basketball my entire life, and people just are more comfortable spinning with their strong arm on the outside of the spin. i have no clue why, they just are. seriously, there's no benefit to trying your first 10's switch unless you were more comfortable spinning that way. it's not like on a half cab 9 where you have the benefit of landing regular. i know i'm right, you know i'm right, so i have no clue as to why you feel the need to fight me on this. without lying, what's you dominant hand, what foot forward are you on a wakeboard, and, if you were trying a 360 dunk on an 8 foot goal, which way would you spin?

I think people spin front-side better from switch because their muscles naturally want to bring them back to a regular position.
Old     (jcv)      Join Date: Oct 2005       09-07-2006, 8:25 PM Reply
M S, i agree with that too, but if you take wakeboarding out of the equation entirely, people just have a natural way of spinning, usually based on their dominant hand.

I also think bizzuck has a poor sense of humour
