So my laptop is a little over a year old. Today I was using it and it just shut off randomly. So I figured the power cable was not plugged in all the way and it just died. But no there is full battery. What is happening though is its not charging. It wont recognize the power cable being plugged in at all. I think maybe the cable shorted out or something and made the computer shut off. The port where you plug the power in though is very loose so I fear that that is where the problems lie. Any ideas?

You probably need a new power cord. My laptops (dell)) seem to need one about every other year. I heard that you have to be pretty gentle with the end that plugs in to your computer. Mine is usually bent at a weird angle from my lap down or through a couch cushion to hide it from the little ones. I think it's something like coaxial where if you keep bending it back and forth the inner fibers come loose from where they need to be.

Well I grabbed another power cord and it worked. So I know its not the computer. Whats weird is now it works. For some reason I am missing a screw on the bottom of the computer and its the one right by the connector so maybe it just got loose?

Trip once, jerk the cable and you're toast.
Bend the power cord at the plug - over time, it shorts itself out.

Get a Mac Book, that will fix all your problems. 4 years and still going strong. I've never had that with a Windows based computer..
