Are there any riders around NYC and CT?
Our lake is 50 miles North of NYC and 30 minutes West of Candlewood Lake in Connecticut.
Check out Lake Mahopac, Zip code 10541.
We are trying to group.
NJersey Riders did a great job of it.

Hey Mike, Hope you get a NY crew going up there.

If I want to come to Mahopac, is there a good ramp I can use? I could possibly come up on a friday or monday to avoid crowds, or should I just try a saturday morning early?

Weekends are getting booked for me, except maybe aug. 18-19th.

if you are having a riding day, I am down, otherwise its quite a trip for me to make in a day. Seems nobody looked or responded, but in Central NY, near Utica area we ride, the thread is "Epic Day in Central NY" some threads down, theres some pictures of all of us riding and stuff. Would like to meet new ppl in NY its just I have the lake in my backyard... but let me know about events, would be nice to meet new ppl

Dave,
There are two Marinas that have great launch pads either $15 or $20 to Launch.
Also two restaurants with parking slips for food and drinks.
Pick any Morning the lake will be yours, you can drive up with a crew and use my boat as well,i have an 07 X-2.
Come up Friday and ride all day, just be ready to play a few games of beer pong at my house.

"Riding Day" can be any time you want to saddle up and take a drive, i will set it up.

Hit me on email m.baione@att.net as a computer at lake house is taboo, I will get it on blackberry.

Dave, we have an 05 X-Star we can use to make you feel more at home, it is orange and yellow though.

Don't forget about the 06 Sanger V215. There's always room for more riders. Fridays work great during the day. Long weekend, full day or riding and time to party.

nice poke!

hey guys. i'm part of the new jersey crew also. i live in manhattan and am interested in riding....well, just about everywhere. i've got limited access to a car and it seems that mahopac is just over an hr from the city. anybody know of train's that run?

Dave - if you wanted to head up, i'd definately be down to take the trip. as it is, i'm used to traveling over 2 hrs to bordentown. let's see if we can plan a "cut work and ride" day soon.

just checked the trains. metro-north heads to croton falls (1 hr) which is less than 20 minutes from mahopac. anybody know how to get from the train to the lake. otherwise driving is an option...

anybody know of people riding on long island sound? i've seen boats but can't manage to meet any riders.

I think Metro North to Goldens Bridge may be better.
Old     (njskier)      Join Date: Jul 2005       07-25-2007, 5:37 PM Reply
Charles, we'll set a day for this road trip for sure.

Mike, Can you give me directions from the Tappen Zee bridge? (Is towing a boat allowed on the Saw Mill? I don't think it is)
Old     (adamcarta)      Join Date: Nov 2005       07-26-2007, 9:30 AM Reply
Use 684 instead of the Saw Mill. I don't think that towing is legal on any of the Parkways.
Old     (mike_baione)      Join Date: Sep 2005       07-26-2007, 12:58 PM Reply
Grand Central to Croton Falls is 1 hour, then 10 minute drive to lake.
Noooooo trailers on Saw mill or Taconic Pkwys.
From Tappan Z ( 45 minutes) take 287 East to 684 North, exit off 684 is called Hardscrabble Road make left ......(10 minutes from here) you will pass croton falls train station.
At this point pretty much everyone can tell you where "Lake Mahopac" is.
m.baione@att.net i can meet you there.
Adam when you comin out?
Charles i am on UES, no excuses for U.Cutting work sounds good.

Mike, I'll be away every friday until august 17th, so hopefully that day Charles and I can come up, maybe drag some more friends with us.

Saw Mahopac on mapquest satellite, looks very nice! Are any of those other small lakes/reservoirs powerboat friendly?
Old     (mike_baione)      Join Date: Sep 2005       07-26-2007, 4:45 PM Reply
bert,
do you have any pics of lake to post?
will be up to ride tomorrow from 3 to 5 if you can.
Only Lake Mahopac is boat friendy, its split lake is called "Kirk Lake" just next door, it has boats but is private.

And Mike, if you ever need a 3rd, lemme know.... schedule permitting I'd be down to take the drive up

Mike, the lake looks great in that pic.
To see some pics of the Delaware river where we ride, look for the thread "2007 NJ Wakefest pics"

So do you have an X-star now?

I have an 07 X-2 (mini xstar), friend has an X-Star which we have access to as well.

Congrats on the new X-2. They are sweet boats with tons of interior space! (I can't believe how much room they have for a 20 footer!)

Mike, I'll be at Brostock on Smith Mountain lake the weekend of 11-12th, so I won't be around.

If you still want to head down and need directions or river hazard info, let me know.

River Hazard info would be good.
Old     (njskier)      Join Date: Jul 2005       07-30-2007, 11:47 PM Reply
Avoid dead low tide when launching if possible.
Go to http://www.saltwatertides.com/dynamic.dir/delawareriversites.html
Click on "Trenton" for tide chart

When coming out of Bordentown ramp, go out channel past buoy that's red with green stripe.
If you go north (right) stay in the channel at all times. There are rocks just outside the channel on both sides of the river.
If you go south (left) you're much safer. Still I would recommend staying in the channel, don't hug either shoreline since it's your first time there. The river twists and turns so you should be able to find smooth water. You can go for miles if heading south.

Oh yeah, make sure you have a skier flag up (orange) when riding, NJ law.

Mike, you should come down on the 18th instead. I should be around then to give you guys some pulls.

My NJ crew is looking slim for the 17th Mahopac trip. Hopefully I can spark some more interest in the upcoming weeks.

Ya Man. This Friday is looking good. Let's keep track of the weather. If that cooperates even slightly... we're good. Keeps the tubers off the lake. We'll have the Sanger and the MC there so just come on over.

Who's in? Friday morning 10:00am?
Mike and I will be setup.

Mike, looks like we're going to take a pass on this friday. Staying close to home and riding at Bordentown.

Still want to come up to Mahopac someday, maybe after Labor day. Feel free to come down and hit B-town anytime.

By about 2", plus you would have to be pretty much empty. Water is deep you could easily tie up to my dock.
