I have a direct drive ’04 Supra Launch and the ski pylon never gets used and is always in the way. I’d like to remove it altogether, but I’m wondering if it’s a bad idea for resale value (I would keep it in my garage to put on later) or for structural integrity of the boat (I doubt it does anything though)? What do you guys think?

The pylon goes through the carpet and it looks like it mounts to a plate that is welded to the frame. I’m guessing I just need to remove those bolts if I can get to them. I would then pull out the pylon and put a plug in the hole where it used to come up from the carpet. Am I missing anything?

Pull it if you don't use it, no worries. Lot's of guys just use a cupholder to plug the hole.

It mounts in that steel bracket that is bolted to the stringers. Mine was stuck in the bracket so I just cutt it off below the floor on my 99 launch. I took the left overs of the pole to the scrapper. I got $12.00 for it. Made a aluminum cover for the whole. I was never even questioned about it when I traded it in.

I took mine out as well, although a different brand of boat. It was never used and made the process of changing my impeller a lot more easy. The only problems I have had is when I fill up my side sacs they tend to distort the motor box a little more forward, and the die hard slalom skiers shake their heads when they see there is no pylon in a Mastercraft.

I removed mine as well. Just got a black plastic plug from the hardware store. It's been working great for 4 years now.
