Hey, i heard a few things about Chad's up and coming board for 09 this weekend, and saw a lil article on it in WBM, just wondering if anybody else has heard anything more about this board.

Chad's 09 board IMO is such a great shape. The boys at Ronix did a really really good job designing it. A lot of people are going to enjoy it.

The board is released for Expo, so about 3 weeks and you'll know all about it.

Hey guys sorry I can't get a pic up, I don't have a scanner right now. On page 89 of WBM October issue you can see the new board. You can also take a look at the bottom of Harf's board on pg 86. If I can find a way to get a pic up I will

Isn't Sharpe a Billabong rider? Looks like a Billabong wetsuit and I would bet the vest is as well.

It's all sick.....Cells, Relik's, One's and so on. It's not an Ibex jacket, the colorway is more towards the Viva.

The boots look like they have been redesigned too, in the article Sharpe is holding them with the sole/baseplate part showing towards the camera. You can't see any of the upper section of the boot.

The Viva is a super dope board. His bindings are hella comfy. Luckily Samuel knows whats up with the '09 line. Radar was sick! every wakeboarders dream. Everyone is in for a treat this up coming season

Anyone that was at Radar knows that all the new stuff is on point and its def. gonna be tough to beat 09 stuff in 2010 because Ronix left nothing on the table. The new line for 09 is above and beyond anyone elses gear in my opinion.

Hey Brando - FBA

How did you guys get into radar? And here I thought I'd be riding my current setup for the rest of my life...

whoa whoa whoa, I just realized that the new chad sharpe shape kinda looks like the original shape they were going to use for the first Covin, so this may be a better picture of the '09 viva: [http://www.metaphoricalwaterwonderland.com/php/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=6&Itemid =14]

Pretty sure that higher volume and or exclusive Radar/Ronix dealers get to head up to the lake for a couple days of testing before Expo. Buyers have to start prepping to determine the numbers they want to purchase for their stores. Trevor, get an industry job and it just might be you.

I work for Carolina WaterSports in Anderson SC and we got to go up there for RONIX and RADAR dealer-days. The product line was insane, the graphics were awesome, and the boots ARE the BEST EVER PERIOD. The VIVA was one of my favorites... keyword one.. haha

Big Heavy - You hit it on the head.

It is definitely every wakeboarders dream. Again, the gear for 09 is for real.....Countdown to expo starts.....now!
Old     (hawk7)      Join Date: Apr 2007       08-20-2008, 8:02 PM Reply
when is the expo?

Big Heavy, thats plan A .

is there some sort of special protocol for becoming an official ronix dealer or do you just ask them for a sticker that says "official ronix dealer" on it?
Old     (cbk)      Join Date: Aug 2006       08-21-2008, 8:28 AM Reply
Protocol?????? Well I guess if you want to use that word you could, but really if you take a look at who the dealers are I think you will find that they are all Pro Shops that have made a true and personal commitment to the sport and are actively involved with it. Basically you won't find the product at Dick's with some part timer who has never even seen a board trying to tell you what board you need. Ronix has less than 200 dealers in the US and plans to keep it that way. I'd say we are pretty "official" , but we didn't get the sticker, just a strong relationship with everyone at Ronix and that's why we sell nothing else.
Old     (chill720)      Join Date: Jul 2003       08-21-2008, 9:37 AM Reply
Trevor,
There was A LOT more to it than just calling and asking to be a dealer and getting the sticker! And Nate is 100% correct, to be the best, you have to sell the best, and all we sell is Ronix.
Old    sdahockey21            08-21-2008, 1:07 PM Reply
I think we can all agree with that

see now that's awesome. I like that. we almost bought a malibu VLX once, but the saleman kept talkin about the stichting on the seats, and the awesome tubing you can do behind it. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5xsYrKP9LU]

Trevor -

That's pretty much what put us in business, we were tired of dealing with people who were just completely uneducated on what they were selling so we decided to take advantage. We are a Centurion dealer and outsell MC,CC,SC and Malibu in our area and the MC,SC and Malibu factories are just an hour and a half away, but when people come to our shop they get to deal with people who live the lifestyle day in and day out.

Sorry for the hijack. How about a teaser pic of Chad on the Viva to make up for it?

Is the base of that binding flexing in the bottom pic? That is what it looks like.
Old     (vlxray)      Join Date: Mar 2005       08-22-2008, 7:38 AM Reply
I think that he's actually flexing the binding plate in that pic. It may be an optical illusion but a plate that flexes in the direction of the board makes sense to me. Especially for cross compatibility with flex boards.
Old     (polarbill)      Join Date: Jun 2003       08-22-2008, 7:46 AM Reply
No, it is not flexing. The new one's don't flex at all.

THOSE BOOTS LOOK AWESOME!!!!!
Old    sdahockey21            08-22-2008, 12:16 PM Reply
haha, there is absolutely NO heal toe side to side flex of the binding plate. There is a key feature to the new boots/plates that you guys probably are not seeing ( but is staring right at you) that makes these boots and all the boots in the Ronix line 10 times better than ever before.

I am super pumped on Ronix this year
Old     (fleming)      Join Date: Aug 2008       08-22-2008, 12:46 PM Reply
Does it have anything to do with the general lack of inserts on the deck of the board?
Old     (bogiedog1)      Join Date: Jun 2008       08-22-2008, 4:05 PM Reply
The plate is wider, basically stretching from heal to toe, instead of only being as wide as the arch of your foot/boot. At least that's what it looks like to me. Can't really tell how it's attached to the boot.

Should reduce flex.
Old     (hawk7)      Join Date: Apr 2007       08-23-2008, 10:58 PM Reply
theres gotta be some crazy way you guys are puttin those bindings on that board, only 2 inserts [3 on bottom??????] from the base plate view the plate is not very wide, from the profile view, the plate isn't very thick. ???
Old     (cbk)      Join Date: Aug 2006       08-24-2008, 7:15 AM Reply
Nothing crazy, it's actually pretty simple.

...some crazy revolutionary way, what ever it is, chad's hands are in the way, so until the expo I'm gonna have trouble sleeping at night .
Old     (wakerider111)      Join Date: Jul 2006       08-24-2008, 5:06 PM Reply
is that a graphic on the bottom or is the footbed showing through so to speak... maybe the plate is just a frame? just guessing here

hehehe Jeremy is on to something. Good eye bro
Old     (hawk7)      Join Date: Apr 2007       08-25-2008, 4:59 PM Reply
looks like some sort of strange synergy [aliteration award?] going on with that baseplate, but whatever it is, I'm too stupid to figure it out.

Just wonderin, looks like the channels on the board are angled in a crazy way, will someone explain that to me? or no? It also looks like the board has those vault toeside edge cut-outs, I'm really hoping it's just an optical illusion though...

edit: I've been lookin into new bindings for next season, I was gonna try to find 07 ones for my 07 covin, wondering if the 09 Viva bindings will fit on older models/other brands.

Pay no mind to the board pictured other than the shape and graphic. I am pretty confident that one is a proto.

If you go to the "photos" section on WW and look at the photos for the Malibu Team Challenge you can at least get a good look at the bottom of Errington's and Harf's boards. Assuming this is their '09 gear.

Harf's setup is all black including the bindings (they look like the 08's except black with a gold strip), Errington's graphics look pretty sweet.

Nate, your right we asked about becoming a dealer 2 yrs ago, and so did a boating store down the road from us. We got it and we are a small pro shop.
Sam is the viva shape the same as the covin?

no there are many changes

The baseplate of the Ronix boots is the 6" plate design that CWB did in 08. I am sure all the companies will be doing it now as it makes sense.

Nate, a little off topic, I was just wonderin if you're on the team or if you're a store owner?

Spine???? What do you mean???
Old     (hawk7)      Join Date: Apr 2007       09-01-2008, 2:17 PM Reply
all the 07 and 08 boards are spineless, no features in the middle to make the landing softer? maybe I'm using the wrong term.
Old     (richsur)      Join Date: Jun 2007       09-02-2008, 12:18 PM Reply
All Ronix bindings this year are baseless.
Old     (richsur)      Join Date: Jun 2007       09-02-2008, 12:21 PM Reply
09 Ronix is what I meant to say.

The One and Viva are totally redesigned boards and they have an arcade board that Dean Smith rides that looks alot like a Lf Trip.
Old     (magellan)      Join Date: Feb 2003       09-02-2008, 5:30 PM Reply
They have a base. Just the middle part is hollowed out so you can see the underside of the boot.
Old     (richsur)      Join Date: Jun 2007       09-02-2008, 7:40 PM Reply
Ronix calls their boots baseless, thats what their 09 catalog says. Also went with hardware kind of a Liquid Force & HL claw hybrid, tighten and fold down.

When they say baseless they mean no seperate plates mounted to the bindings, kind of like the old days.
