This is one of my favorite threads on a different forum. I am not sure why, but it always gets me in the mood to be on the water. I was just told mine has been put in for the season and I am getting pumped. I'll go first.

Northwest Indiana

From the dock, from the deck, and from my chair on the deck (you can kind of see it behind my son's head).

Cool idea for a thread.

We live in shared waterfront too. 53 homes, 18 boat slips, 300' of beachfront, our own ramp, etc. My place is about 2 blocks off the water. Heres a shot from last fall. Last 3 boats on the dock, the hardcores, all Malibus.

Preston,

Did you build that wakeboard swing yourself? If so, have any directions on building one?

Whew! Nice view Joey! Lookin forward to putting the new boat in that view!

Thanks PLR. I did a little dock expansion this year & have plans to pump things up a bit on our dock. The finger right behind my boat is now big enough to put a patio table & several chairs on. And we have a 5 watt FM transmitter coming.... should be able to setup our own radio station for all the boats on the dock to tune into. I imagine it will make Saturday afternoons when the lake is a zoo a bit more fun to just hang out on the dock.

Too funny.... how many people will recognize the Strip?

Being a foil rider, I've been there quite a few times. Used to stay at AZ Shores or (more recently) the Blue Water. Hung out with some of your neighbors over on Apache Loop. Definitely a little slice of heaven.

Yes it is, they just rebut the one next to me about a year and a half ago. Makes us look bad now that the house is all blinging! Lol, I was just out there two weeks ago and the price has come down even more. You should get I so I have some cool neighbors (assuming you don't call the cops when the music is too loud )

Depends on the type of music LOL, but yes we are going back and forth on it and I keep watching it drop and just can't commit right now with several other things going on. I was out there when Lauri first showed it and have been watching it drop. Can you pm me or email me what the monthly association is out there? Also is there any other fees beside association and anything else I may not be aware of?

P.S. Sorry on the hijack of the thread.

Didn't make it this year. But have been attending events there since 1996. I've seen & heard a few of the stories from this years event in LHC. Sounds like a good group of riders from all over the continent showed up this year. Definitely no lack of talent.

The barrels are actually really awesome! The rise and fall with the water, which is nice because the water rose a good two feet over the weekend, so while we stay up high, our neighbors are submarined. Also, they can handle ice, so we don't need to pull it out in the winter!

Yeah not going back and forth yet. The dock at the house is still dry. Not as low as in the picture but still not high enough to use the dock yet.

We are 1 of only 4 boats in so far this year and I can't believe it. People are missing out on the best conditions of the season.. Oh well more for me! Soon I will be leaving the boat in town all week and then at the house on the weekends.

Here is what we are working with.
From ramp.

From sand/fire pit.

From back porch.

I just got it cleaned up for summer and despidered for the moment. If anyone knows any tricks for spiders let me know. I have tried everything. With no luck.

This is the best spider control we have found. It's micro encapsulated, that means it leaves small globs of the pesticide for residual kill. The spiders crawl through it and it gets on them killing them. I spray three times a year during the active spider season. Cover up when you spray it and don't spray so much that it oversprays into the lake.
Old     (2LakeWake)      Join Date: Jul 2011       05-09-2012, 4:26 PM Reply
http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/bifen-it-p-226.html

We use this stuff around the lake house, in the boat house, on the dock, etc. Mix it in a 1 gallon pump sprayer. We spray a few times a year. Never had to worry about overspray into the lake......we spray it in the house as well.....Sure you probably want to do it while you don't have a ton of people around, but me, my dad and my father in law have sprayed it for years around all of our houses, garages, swingsets, etc.

Not sure if the globs Ronnie mentions are a pain to deal with, but this stuff doesn't leave any residue. Sprayed last weekend and my wife came down a few minutes after and asked where all the spiders went. It may not kill the spiders, but they don't come back around with this stuff. You can see them scatter when you start spraying. It also helps with fleas, ticks, and the site says mosquitoes.

Seems to be a bit cheaper than what Ronnie recommended, but that's not to say what he posted isn't better, just have never used anything besides Bifen.

If you have a Southern States, Tractor Supply or any ag store nearby, I can bet they have something exactly like it. Just ask for Bifen and I am sure they will point you in the right direction.

The globs I mentioned are the Micro capsules of the pesticide left when the spray dries. We spray the eaves of the dock, the post bottoms at the deck and the edges of the dock. I've never seen the Micro capsules. They are very small (Micro).

Here is the new dock I am building at my "lake home". Almost done. Here are a few pictures. I am going to add a small square gazebo-style covered area at thw end of the fixed walkway and make the top look kinda like a lighthouse. I am installing BLUE LED lighting when I get everything mechanical done. Here is a pic of the dock and a graphic representation of what the covered area and the lighting will look like.
