I am trying to post a picture on my profile and the picture I want to use is too large. How do you resize the picture to that the size of the file will fit? Pete

I just open the picture in paint and then go to image/ stretch skew and 50% it or whatever so it is small enough. i dont know of any correct way to do it but it works.

Microsoft Photo Editor:

Be sure to save it with a different name so that you don't overwrite your original.

I resize them by uploading them to It resizes them to under 75k.

Download a photo editor program such as serif photo plus 6.0 (free), register it, then open the saved pic in the program, click image, click image size, change it to what you want, click ok, then click file, click export optimizer, then click export and save the pic under a different name (to tell the resized pic apart from its original.) then upload it to WW

I like to use IrFanView. Its really easy to use. Just go to resize/Resample and you can choose from preset standard sizes.

Yea, I use paint. Same as David. Just play with the % until you get it like you want it.

If you are running Windows XP, you need to download MS Image Resizer, a windows powertoy. All you have to do is right click the picture and say 'Resize image'. Voila, you are done in 3 seconds flat.

Here is the URL:

Scroll down and look on the right hand side of the page. You can download the file, install it, and use at will.

Also if you are running XP, you can email the pics to yourself and when it asks, you can click to send smaller versions of the pics

Thanks everyone!! I ended up using Microsoft Paint. I shrunk a 473 KB file down to a 13 KB file so that it would fit on my profile page.

Loren, Thanks I also downloaded the Power Toys from the link you sent me. I tried it and it worked like a charm as well!!
