"Standard Wake Boat" - Review

stumbled on this and saw it was posted nearly a month ago but i could not find it posted already on ww so here it is (again)

man that wake looks kinda small... i like the idea they are going for with a cheaped intro boat but would a diesel v6 get the job done?

really, i thought that wake looked pretty good honestly...

the boat does look kind of smallish though.

i think that diesel v6 would get it done easily for that boat, and probably be a pretty solid motor too.

It looks like it could use some more weight.

It looks pretty promising. More weight would probably really liven the wake up. It did look pretty firm when the riders were hitting it at 85ft back though.

i really like the looks of the boat, BUT

have you ever tried working on anything made by vw?? repairs suck for the cars, i know that...the weight thing too, maybe i'm just dumb but they're saying 1485 total...or 500back+500starboard side of the motor box+500 port side of the motor box+ 485human ballist= 1985 lbs ?? even if it is running 14XX lbs of ballist my sn2001 would put that boat to shame with that amount of weight.

how much are they?

Repairs don't suck.... engines are far better engineered...

i second vw sucking. brokedown junk as far back as i can remember.

10' makes a huge difference on smaller boats. I bet at 75' the wake feels twice as big but yes it will be more narrow. Otherwise boat looks like it is all bussiness.

I have one word for that boat: FUGLY. That boat was always too small with no interior room. I wouldn't pay $14k for one. Nice dash and fiberglass engine cover What is that on the boat they're completing in the video "the shop", air voids in the bow that they're fixing? Maybe someone should splash the original Malibu Skier and bring that back too!

There is a nautique 206 with the VW diesel running at a place i goto in Greece to ride, it is very quiet and has had not 1 problem in 2 years of saltwater use (never flushed).

Looks good to me. Wake really doesn't look that bad at all. I think they misquoted the ballast in the video. If it's 1485lbs total and they are counting people then it would only be 250lbs on each side of the motor box. I bet a SN2001 at almost 25mph and 85' wouldn't be any bigger. Of course if it was 21-22mph and 75' it would look a lot bigger.

unbeleiveable- they want 30 k for this boat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! U can buy a a late model vdrive for that price!!!

also theyh must not have stuck w the deisel v6 on their website it shows that all their boats use merc 330 v8s exclusively

Yeah but it's 30K for a brand new boat. Not a late model "used" boat.

dude we got a new launch 22 ssv for 37. U can get an epic for like 34 or a mobius V for about the same

I agree - I dig the concept behind Standard, but I think their price point may be a bit high, especially as a new entry into the market. That boat at $25k would be hugely appealing. As it stands, at $30k it's appealing, but there's a lot more competition at that price level.

its going to fail...new boar or not its ugly and has no appeal......personally I ould then rather get a nice stern drive with tower for that money and tweak it. That boat really has no market niche it could take over. Anyone into boarding will get a real boat. I would rather get a 2002 supra ssv used for 25000 or less before i get a new 210 standard. I just dont see it.

Here's the thing though. This is their first attempt. It will continue to get better. MC, CC, and Supra have been around for years. Give them some time. They might change the shape of the hull next year or give some other engine options. But you're right. AS IT STANDS, unless you are just dying for a "NEW" boat...it'd be a hard decision not to get a used Supra or AN.
