Quick vs. Fast

What is the difference between a board that is fast and one that is quick? The Temet is fast and the TFD is quick? Can anyone please define it in riding terms? Why would one prefer one over the other?

TFD is much more responsive from changing edges and accelerating when the Temet is smooth but Fast when edging

Ok, so assuming I'm edging with the same amount of pressure from the flat into the wake, which board come in with a higher speed?

just a play on words in my opinion. I would say the tfd and temet are a both fast and quick.

However, if I had to give a difference: fast refers to excelleration and lack of drag. Quick refers to responsiveness in regards to edge to edge movement.

Speed is the integral of acceleration.

Quick is acceleration, Fast is speed. You can be quick and slow (responsive and slow), or not quick and fast (not responive and fast), both, or neither.

A car that can go from 0-60 in 2 seconds but tops out there is quick, but not fast. A car that can go 200 mph but take and hour to get there is fast, but not quick.

It would probably "feel" like the TFD was going "faster" because the sensation of quicker acceleration could fool your mind into thinking since you got to speed quicker, then you must be going faster at the wake. The problem is that these boards are probably very similar when comparing them within the relatively short distance of an approach. Neither board will reach it's full "speed" potential, so I would say the continued acceleration of the TFD would make it "faster" at the wake. The real advantage of a "quick" board is shorter approaches and less effort when edging. Any takers?

I'll buy that for a dollar. Seriously though, I think you are correct, Eric. What I find is quicker boards make it easier to get out of control, while less quick boards allow you to better control your approach.
