I remember being on Jarrod's old Malibu several years ago. Up to that point, I thought tower speakers were a couple 6x9's in a carpet box. Changed my whole perspective on stereo systems.

For those (like Grant) who can't appreciate some good ole chrome finish...NVS has new fiberglass enclosures with a great shape. They are recessed up into the tower so that head clearence is better, they are very light weight, and they even come with a slick new quick release system Just pull the pin and un-plug. I beleive they said the 10" system only hangs 8" below the tower. Cool stuff. Given it up for the originators of the pro audio system.

I've heard both X and Y in a head to head. IMO, although there was a very slight difference in sound, volume, and projection, you cant go wrong with either brand. Pick the ones that you like the looks of best.

Ive never seen any "pro audio" that i like the looks of. I mean there ok but i wouldnt walk up to one and say dang that looks so good. Imo the best look is a fiberglass box with 8 or 10 6.5 all the way across the tower or 2 pair of Fusions all the way across the tower.

In the first picture that Nate posted, noticed how the speakers on the top rack start higher than the tower. Those are the new enclosures. Nate, do you have a side shot of that?

J-rod, I personally like the looks (and more importantly the function) of the NVS enclosures. I think some don't like the look and thus poke fun at the design; almost like buying a wakeboard for the graphic and not the shape. It was intended more as a response to the ideal that "looking cooler" is better than "functioning better", which I personally have a hard time understanding. But to each his own.

Hey Matt: 2 examples how your theroy is WRONG #1 Fat chicks are better than thin girls for ballast. #2 Stock size wheels on your car will give you better MPG and a smoother ride. IMO if it don't look good I don't care how great it is but to each his own. Form #1 and a very close second function.

hey g. are you saying that you dont like the looks of the nvs? have you thought about building a new tower box that can hold these nvs speakers. im just asking because your systems consists of top of the line stuff except the tower. i mean your tower is cool but the 6 by 9's dont match the rest of the system. i know your more than capable of building something cool. im asking because i think you can do it and make it look good.

Grant, I guess I just could really care less what other people think (but the world would be boring if we were all the same right?). In regards to your "rules", I dont plan on marrying for looks alone. For example you take a hot girl who cant wakeboard and has no interest, and a mediocre girl who can rip, and I am choosing mediocre all day long, and twice on sunday. My tahoe does have stock rims and the ride is amazing! But I guess thats why I have a V-drive, and you a DD. Your boat might be prettier, glow, etc. but that wont help the wake, which is what I am about (function). Sorry if I stepped on your toes or you took that shot as personal, just offering another viewpoint on the situation.

Matt: No offence taken, I bought my DD almost 6 years ago because it had better function for how we use it not for look's so you theroy works in that situation LOL I think a Super Air looks better than a AIR so again another one for your theroy. And yes Ill bet my boat looks cooler than your's at night so thanks Jerry Yea you might be on to somthing. It would be cool to see what Scott B could come up with. A tower box with some NVS in it.

Those new NVS mounts look sweet! So I guess there are two types of Tyrants now? It looks like they really tried to shrink the boxes and squeeze everything into a really tight package. Did anyone see if the top is still "canned" like the old ones or did they go with a different enclosure format? I definitely like the disconnect feature. I use my boat so often in the summer its constantly sitting in my driveway. It would be nice to be able to quickly disconnect the speakers after each evening set to help me sleep better . We all now how much of an attraction tower speakers are for the scummy boat thief. Plus for those long trips it would be cool not to get road grime, etc. I would imagine that would really extend the life of the speaker too. Did anyone play with the quick disconnects to see how fast it tears down?

I played with the disconnects. One pin pulls out completely, the other is spring loaded. Hold it back and everything slides off. It almost seemed too easy.

irony i·ro·ny Pronunciation[ahy-ruh-nee] –noun, plural -nies. 1. A guy on Wakeworld who hangs out at ski beach with 65lbs of 6x9s, recycled paper and bondo on his tower, talking trash on the chrome enclosures made by people who wakeboard and brought HLCDs to the wakeboarder.

My boat sits on a boat lift at our local marina all year long. I'm thinking I should have gone with the quick disconnect system.

pretty sure he's not releasing them yet. He took them to the show to get some initial feedback but those at the show weren't the final version. Should be pretty sick though from the description i got from him! Shameless plug: i'll hook you up on NVS with a killer deal!
