WHO RUNS THE MOST WEIGHT?!?! HOLLA!!! \clipart{rofl}

Everyone is always talking about how to weight, configs of weight, types of weight. I'm sure the Pros are all running 4 and 5k, but how bout' us Ams, mid-ams, aspiring young rippers?

Anything under 2k need not post. lol. Bodies, gear, and batteries dont count. Just list your boat, and weight.

I'll start. 2850 last week. And we didnt like it because the week before we had 2850 plus 5 adults, not 3.

BOAT: 03' X-2
WEIGHT: 2850

Why would you possibly need more than stock ballast?

Does running a lot of weight equal having a big trick bag? Just curious how many different invert variations and spins variations 360 or more you guys have total? I know some of you have lots of tricks, but I'm curious what the most people have that are running that much weight.

500 pounds of lead in front, sack on top of that.
Stock ballest in ski locker
200 pounds of lead on each side in the back. And fat sacks on top of that. Ripped out stock ballest in back.

I would guess around 2700 to 3000 pounds

After a second look at this thread I caught Jeremy's comment about 6 posts down... come on dude! We have a 2008 and 2009 210 in our stable and both have at least 3,200. That boat needs weight just like every other boat. Infact, I don't see how you could shred the new boat on factory ballast alone, its super lame.

06 VLX

Stock: 1250
Front lead: 150
Passanger compartment, lead: 80
Drivers compartment, lead: 80
Back compartments under seat, lead: 80 each side
Cooler area behind driver, lead: 90 (offsets weight for people, passanger storage area, amps, etc)
Wedge Down

Total: around 2,000 not including people.

Nothing outrageous but it puts out a nice wake for my riding, really nice when you have about 9-10 people on the boat.

Dang, you guys are wake snobs. We have an 05 VLX with factory 1250, a 725 in the middle, and 50 lbs of lead for a total of 2,000 even plus wedge. We have had riders doing grabbed TS 7s and BS 5s, crow mobes and skeezers, etc with no problem. You guys are just wasting gas...

but for you wake-o-philes, the other boat I ride frequently is my friend's 08 Xstar with factory ballast, 750s on either side of the engine, a 725 in the middle, and 2 sacks in the front under the seats that are prob 200-400 lbs each. I dont know the factory numbers or the front sacks, but its somewhere around 4,000 lbs.

haha, gotta love when people get offended about the ballast thing and use the common argument, "Well Scott Byerly could do all those tricks behind a ski boat with an outboard and no ballast." I love that argument. It's just fun to ride boats with big ass wakes even if you're not a pro or don't have a huge bag of tricks. I can do all my tricks behind my boat with half the weight I normally run, but you know what? IT's WAY MORE FUN TO BOOT OFF A HUGE WAKE...

I had a 2009 VLX and just ordered my 2010.
Stock: 1250
Lead (midship): 400
Wedge: ???

If I have time, I loose the wedge and put 300 on each side of the motor.

I love a huge wake as much as the next guy, but I can't say that much changes about my riding stock ballast-->slammed except for my amplitude. I can't land anything new. Anyone else in my boat??
Old     (wakeviolater)      Join Date: Sep 2004       07-23-2009, 8:34 AM Reply
the malibu lsv im using this summer, nicknamed the "white knight":

1350 stock ballast
750 bow
750 floor
400 back seat

power wedge bewteen the "w" and "a" (not sure how much this supposedly add's).

3250 lbs. ballast (not including wedge) in a 3900 lb. boat.

I cant run this much weight with anything but a skeleton crew and I want to pitch out the prop so we can run more!

450 bow
725 center console
750 btw motor box and rear set (great for rear facing seet too!)
500 tank (seat)
600 on the rear seat (optional)
350 ski locker

= 3375# TOTAL

(do i need this much? no | do i have a big bag-o-tricks? hell no (maybe some day) | Am I wake obsessed? probably! | BUT, IF YOU HAVE A BIG WAKE, YOU HAVE NO EXCUSES! YOU CANT FINISH YOUR RUN AND SAY, "WELL, I WOULD HAVE LANDED THAT IF WAKE WAS RIGHT!" if i cant land SHIZ its because of me, not my boat or wake. period)

750's in rear
750 bow sac
600 in the floor
400 in the walkway
350 in lead
3600 normally
Add the 400 he throws across the front seats if we've got a lot of riders for a total of 4K.

Justin - That's because you have superior wake skills! I saw you throw down the craziest run in College Station behind a Ski Nautique. If you could throw everything behind that boat, then I'm sure a new Malibu with moderate weight is more than enough.

I was just curious on the trick bag and if anyone thought the big wake helped. I can land all of my tricks behind a stock 210 but I agree it is more fun to have a big wake. I run around 2300 in my supersport which is usually plenty. I actually find sometimes I have a harder time with certain tricks on a bigger wake.

sbt3... I rode behind a stock '08 X2 a few weeks back. I could land all my tricks, but it's nowhere near as fun and I had to drop the grabs from most of my spins. You can get the job done and have a good time, but Scott (see above) has it right on. There is nothing more fun that being booted off a huge wake.

I'd have to call the weight calculations into a bit of question. I'd guess going off the "bag rating" overinflates things at least 5-10% heavy...e.g., most 750 lbs. bags only fill up to 700, etc. We're limited by altitude on weight but went from mid-2000 lbs (very good) to 3000 (amazing) on SANs at the Delta last year and the difference was noticeable, definitely extra amplitude and hang time. FUN!

Showing a shot of the X-star turning for a dumper wake is a bit misleading, Evan. I'm gonna have to come down and personally inspect that thing to verify...

Yeah buddy! Must have been hard on you to have your boat that disorganized! I'm proud of you! I bet you guys we're boostin!

The real question I have though is... Did you grab your elephant?

Ha, ha, ha...

Brian, I can assure you that we were going dead straight. But you're welcome to come down for an inspection any time. That boat was super heavy that day. Full ballast and 10-ish peeps. That's was a big block in an X-star will get you.

Here are a couple more compliments of BC2.

Note that I was standing in the middle of the wake and it's still tall... LOL! It was a bit light that day though. Only 3 people in the boat.

Crazy how different the shape is on the delta. The 10' deep water just doesn't let the boat sink enough. It's got that vert kick at the delta and a smooth ramp at the lakes.

Hmmm... Those must be my favorite wake shot bordies.... I need to rock some new shorts. Ha, ha, ha.

Evan,
If you ask me your pics don't do the BC justice. I'm hoping to get another pull behind it this fall ?
