I have a 2007 epic 23v with the speaker system across the back transom for the rider. The 07 comes with 8 7.7's across the back and I would like to convert two of the 7.7's to sub woofers like the 09 epic but not exactly the same design. Does anyone know of any type of pod or enclosure the I could use to seal the back of sub for efficiency? Just an abs can or something would work but I have been unable to find anything, I'm thinking custom work is the only way to go at this point. Any help would be much appreciated.

Patrick,

A couple of birch rings and ribs with fleece and resin and you've got enclosures that are the right size and have the required rigidity. Actually, your first couple of layers could be speaker cloth to get the extra stretch. Once you've got your shape you can use something thicker and stronger.

We have rigid injection-molded ABS pods but they're a little small and light for a sub.

The JL Audio 6W3v3 only requires .15 cu. ft. net displacement.

Just keep in mind that if its small and it goes low it has to be inefficient. There's no way to escape it.

Patrick, you're talking about subs across the back of the transom right? Do they just get soaked back there or what? Is there a sub that can hadle getting that wet?

David, that's very helpful information thanks, I'll try my hand at some fab work... Hatepain- to answer your question it is designed that way from epic, it is recessed and has a carbon fiber style guard and sits pretty high across the back. If i can figure out how to add some pics i will. As for the sub woofers the new epic comes with 2 12"
Kicker Solo-Baric L7's which i understand the cone much like alot of subs is water resistive.

I know the problem... its cuz you need an "enclosure" not "inclosure"

Adam,

I think Patrick meant what he wrote. He was looking for an enclosure that was also 'hip' or 'trendy' thus an "inclosure."

We carry them in a variety of designer colors.
