I took my new 2008 Supra 22V out today and everything went well. When I brought the boat home and put it away I noticed water on the garage floor. After carefull inspection, this water was leaking at where the drive shaft enters the boat hull. This is my first v drive and all is new to me. Is this normal? I would not think so but did not know if there was some sort of adjustment that needs to be made.

Please advise.

There is a seal around the prop shaft that is water cooled. It is designed to leak into the boat like 10 drips a minute. The rate it leaks can be adjusted by a big nut on the inside around the shaft. You have to put the boat in the lake, put it in gear at idle & watch how much it leaks. Then tighten or loosen it as needed.
All that said, I guess water could leak out just as easily as it leaks in. So I'd be looking at how fast it's leaking in.

Seems like an 08 Supra would a) have the newer dripless shaft seal in it. And b) get those bugs worked out by your dealer.

There is a line that goes to the dripless seals from engine waste/bypass water for cooling. The water in this line, and some from the cooling system, will drip from the dripless seal are where the shaft enters the hull. If you want to see how they work, or how they install, there are some photos and an install at http://www.wakeboatworld.com

Have fun.
