I just bought a 1982 Ski Supreme and I'm having issues. I just put a RB starter on and now I'm locking up solenoids. I know that the starter is fine now (tested twice) but about every five starts or so the solenoid doesn't release and the motor just keep cranking. I'm getting frustrated as I've put two solenoids in since rebuilding the starter and I'm beginning to think I can't possibly be so unlucky as to buy two bad solenoids in a row. Anyone know where to buy a GOOD HEAVY DUTY solenoid?

It could be a few different reasons why you have this problem, if need to give us a call, www.asesupply.com, I am sure we can come up with a solution for you.

Also, maybe you starter is meshing too tight with the flywheel. You could space the starter somehow. Maybe that will work.

second sean sounds like the starter needs shimmed out

I'm pretty sure the starter does not need shimming and after talking to Cris it looks like I might have a bad ground or corroded wires so it's back to the boat to clean things up.

It could be the ignition switch keeping power on the small "s" terminal wire to the solonid.
